LINGUISTICS

SAID, AUGUSTINE CHRISTOPHER D. 01/15/23

BSED ENGLISH – 1B
1.) What have you learned about the introduction to linguistics
subject?

- I learned about the aspects of human language including

sounds, words, sentences, and meanings but the thing that
resonated me the most and made an impact is how we
execute the letters and words really well especially the
flow and rules.

2.) What you least liked about it?

- For me is the manner and place of articulation such as the
fricative, nasal etc because I’m having a hard time
scrutinizing and familiarizing the sounds and flows.
3.) What you liked most about it?
- The Phonological Structure and Syntax Structure. It’s not
easy to analyze what is or are the vowels or diphthong in
phonemic transcription especially when they are remaining
consonants included. Syntax Structure is also hard because
before analyzing it, you have to know the rules of 8 parts of
speech in English and it’s meanings like the Adjective,
Subject, Preposition, Noun etc.

4.) How you think linguistics can be useful for you as an English
Major?
- To be honest, Linguistics for me is an art and skill of a
language. But however it’s hard to acknowledge that it’s
useful because it’s very difficult subject. It would only be
useful for me if i mastered all the systems of rules, the 8
parts of speech in English Language, the proper sounds the
flows, symbols and etc. that are related to Linguistics. And
through that, I could help the students who are taking
English as their major course in order to master all the
scientific fields of English Language Studies.
