Frances Haugen is an American data engineer and scientist, product manager, and
whistleblower. She disclosed tens of thousands of Facebook's internal documents to
the Securities and Exchange Commission and The Wall Street Journal in 2021.

Haugen joined Facebook in 2019 because someone close to her was radicalized
online and she "felt compelled to take an active role in creating a better, less toxic
Facebook" & she became a product manager in the Facebook civic integrity
department. She decided to become a whistleblower because was prioritizing profit
over public safety.

FOR WHISTLEBLOWING
Whistleblowing is a subjective matter, where blowing the whistle can lead to more
harm than an actual cause itself. But in the case of Frances Haugen & Facebook the
cause was much harmful than the repercussion of whistleblowing, Whistleblowing if
come under the right intention for helping the society or for benefit of mankind it’s
always the right thing to do. Whistleblowing can lead to the benefit of the company
itself, because after the whistleblowing has happened most of the companies starts
working in the right direction. We can’t say for how much long they’ll continue their
right conduct, but we can say it’ll help the society for some time.

JUSTIFICATION
Helping Society:
Whistleblowing has done largely due to the intent of helping the society, or the driving force of
stopping something unethical practices that is harming the society. From the example of “Francis
Haugen of Facebook” we can see that she become a whistleblower to project some light upon the
wrongdoing of Facebook in terms of public privacy & disturbing the person’s mind stability. The
society which was suffering from the bad rules & regulations of the social media & manipulation of the
social media platform in terms of following the ethical was come into limelight due to the
whistleblowing of Ms. Haugen. This time whistleblowing was done to help the society in the form
sustaining personal privacy & stopping spread of the harmful conduct on social media.

Ethically Correct:
At first glance, it would seem to be whistleblowing is inherently ethical. After all, if your company is
doing something wrong, you've got an ethical duty to alert the authorities of their wrongdoing!
However, many individuals find themselves in a very moral quagmire after they discover illegal
activities or other sorts of non-compliance within their organization. That’s why whistleblowing always
done after comparing the cause & harm related to the problem. Whistleblowing in most of the cases is
correct thing to do, because its carrier feeling of compassion & helping the society.

Conclusion:
In a nutshell it’s subjective in nature but if Whistleblowing is done with sense of helping the society
after comparing the cause & harm related to the harm should be consider ethically & morally be
correct. But one should be firm to follow the hardship comes after becoming the whistleblower.
