GENERAL NOTES:
1. Detailed Visual Inspection is defined as follows:
- An intensive examination of a specific item, installation or
assembly to detect damage, failure or irregularity.
- Available lighting is normally supplemented with a direct
source of good lighting at an intensity deemed appropriate.
- Inspection aids such as mirrors, magnifying lenses, etc.,
may be necessary.
2. BS440 and BS492 as referenced in this document are for
737-300 series aircraft. For 737-500 series aircraft, substitute
BS400 for BS440, and BS452 for BS492.
1. Frame Replacement at BS 440
A. Gain access to facilitate replacement of the frame
Generate non-routine cards to document access requirements
for frame replacement and list below:

B. Remove and discard existing frame at BS 440.

C. Perform a detailed visual inspection of the frame support


structure at BS 440, stringers 16R to 28R for signs of corrosion,
cracks or other damage. Generate a non-routine card for any
damage found.

CONCURRENTLY FROM AIRCRAFT. ONE OF THE
FRAMES BEING REPLACED MUST BE POSITIONED
AND SECURED IN PLACE WITH TEMPORARY
ATTACHMENTS (CLECOS OR EQUIVALENT) PRIOR
TO REMOVAL OF OTHER FRAME THAT IS BEING
REPLACED.
D. Install new frame using same type and size fasteners as
removed, oversized fasteners as required. Reference
737-300/-500 SRM 51-40-02, 51-40-05 and 51-20-01. Reference
