OBE Course Outline

Central Women’s University

Department of Computer Science and Engineering
B.Sc. (Hons) Program

Part A

1. Course Code : Phy-104

2. Course Title : Physics Sessional- II

3. Course Type : Core

4. Year/Level/Semester/Term : Level- 02/Term- 01

5. Academic Session : As required

6. Course Teacher/Instructor : Dr. Ain-ul Huda

7. Pre-requisite (if any) : PHY-103

8. Credit Value : 1

9. Contact Hours : 2

10. Total Marks : 100

11. Rationale of the course :

This course is outlined to teach fundamental laboratory skills and illustrate topics under mechanics,
acoustics, heat, thermodynamics and properties of matter by experiment. Different skills and
techniques related to the experiment, e.g., setup of apparatus according to the laboratory manual,
recording of experimental data, analysis of the recorded data to draw conclusion and maintenance of
the ethical standard, included in this course will able the student to learn the systematic approach to
conduct a scientific investigation.
12. Course Objective :
The objectives of this sessional course are-
 To introduce basic concepts and the theory behind the experiment.
 To ensure that students can handle sophisticated laboratory apparatus with confidence
 To develop the group-wise and individual skills and improve the writing skills for scientific
investigation.
 To develop the insight for interpreting experimental results and errors.
13.Course Learning Outcomes (CLOs)
CLO1: Acquire knowledge on the basic terminology, laboratory discipline and ethics related to the
sessional works.

CLO2: Observe and comprehend how the theory correlate with the arrangement of lab apparatus for
practical and handle apparatus confidently.

CLO3: Conduct the experiment in groups with measurement instrumentation to collect proper dataset for
required parameter and keep the records logged in a report following a systematic manner while
maintaining the ethical standards.

CLO4: Analyze the dataset found from experiment, construct graphs (where required) and obtain the
required outcome performing calculation using the underlying theory while estimating the precision of
experimental outcome from the perception of experimental procedures.

CLO5: Assess the experimental outcome, evaluate the comparison between the expected outcome and
experimental outcome, and combine all the realizations to draw rational conclusions.
