PAYROLL SYSTEM

KEY CONTROLS
Raspberry Co has a separate human resources (HR) department which is responsible for setting
up all new employees.

Having a segregation of duties between human resources and payroll departments reduces the
risk of fake employees being employed and paid too.

The clock card information identifies the employee number and the number of hours worked ,
this report is done by the human resource department.
As the hours worked are automatically transferred into the payroll system, this reduces the risk
of less or more payment as correct amount to be paid shall be calculated.

Production employees have got clock cards which they need to swipe at the start and end of
their shift, which is being observed by security 24 hours.
Employees only paid for the amount of hours they worked , if worked less then paid less.
Also employees cannot swipe cards for their fellow employees as they are being observed 24
hours

TEST OF CONTROL BY AUDITOR


Review the job descriptions of payroll and HR to confirm the segregation of duties , also setting
up of new members.

Observe the use of clock cards by the employees


Make sure the security is keeping an eye on the process and if any variance identified discuss
with the team.
