Six months later; no new leads on missing Franklin priest

JANUARY 18, 2023 - Saturday, January 21, will mark six months since the disappearance of Fr. Anthony
Kluckman, SCJ. A retired member of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (Dehonians), Fr. Anthony was last
seen on security footage at approximately 1:35 a.m., July 21, 2022, as he was leaving Sacred Heart at
Monastery Lake in Franklin, WI. The senior apartment complex includes a section for retired members of
Fr. Anthony’s religious order.

As noted previously, Fr. Anthony, 75, suffers from dementia.

The Franklin Police Department, in collaboration with a wide variety of investigative organizations, has
done in-depth searches of not only Sacred Heart at Monastery Lake and its surrounding property, but
the wider area as well. Trained dog teams, scuba divers, drones and sonar have been used multiple
times. Information about Fr. Anthony has been shared with authorities across the country.

“Yet we are still left with the pain and frustration of not knowing what happened to Fr. Anthony, where
he may have gone and why,” said Fr. Vien Nguyen, SCJ, provincial superior of the U.S. Province of the
Priests of the Sacred Heart.

“We are grateful for the many, many signs of support,” continued Fr. Vien. “Each day we hear of prayers
said for Fr. Anthony. And while we know that prayers are not enough, they help us to continue to live
with the unknown and keep Fr. Anthony close to our hearts.”

Noting that silence may seem to some to mean that Fr. Anthony is now forgotten, Fr. Vien emphasized
that nothing could be further from the truth.

“We may not have regular updates to share on the investigative process but do know that it continues.
We do not give up hope.”

If you have any information that you think may be relevant in the search for Fr. Anthony, please
contact the Franklin Police Department at: 414-425-2522. There is a $10,000 reward for clues that lead
to finding Fr. Anthony.

The Priests of the Sacred Heart, also known as “Dehonians,” after their founder, Fr. Leo John Dehon, or
“SCJ” for their initials, is an international Roman Catholic religious order of priests and brothers based in
Rome. The order has a presence in over 40 countries; its headquarters in the United States is in Hales
Corners, WI, as is one of its largest ministries in the country: Sacred Heart Seminary and School of
