A formalist analysis looks at how the text is constructed as a whole, how its parts are

constructed individually, how the characters are constructed, how the setting is constructed,
how the tone is constructed, how the point of view is constructed, how the diction is
constructed, and everything else that goes into making up the text. To sum up, one basic idea
that ties everything together is called a theme. It's less about whether they succeed in their
quests and more about the concerns of identity, philosophy, and morality that come up in the
process. I chose Love and Redemption. In Les Misérables, Jean Valjean is transformed from a
hardened criminal into a paragon of virtue. While generated and accelerated by love,
redemption does not take place on a straightforward path. Instead, it is understood as a
process to be constantly fought for. "The guilty one is not the person who has sinned, but the
person who has created the shadow." This presentation of the concept was superb. Feelings
associated with the theme's depiction have been successfully conveyed to me. Furthermore,
the plot is the sequence of events that occur. It is the story's action that propels the narrative
onward. Jean Valjean is a prisoner-on-parole, who runs from the ruthless Inspector Javert.
Meanwhile, a working-class girl with a child is at a turning point as she turns to prostitution. The
people sing of their anger and Enjolras leads the students to fight upon the barricades. This part
of the movie is so thrilling. It gives hype to the audience. "I had a dream my life would be so
different from this hell I'm living!" The plot development was astounding! I can feel the despair
she had to go through. Moreover, context, setting, or environment, the location or nature of
which something is located or in which an event occurs. In the 19th century, the area of Digne.
This is when and where the story begins which is where Bishop Myriel lives. "Do not forget,
never forget, that you have promised to use this money in becoming an honest man." The
setting was right for the theme because the setting I chose, is where Jean Valjean changed and
became a better man. He was forgiven even though he stole silver and other valuable things
and eventually Bishop Myriel gave the silver, and this is where Jean Valjean changed his ways
and promised to become a better man. Next is character, is an individual in a story, play, or film.
The character I chose is Jean Valjean who is the main protagonist of the movie. Jean Valjean is
an example of a kind, loving, caring, and merciful man. Like any human being, he may fail and
rise again. The story demonstrates how cruelty can make a good man bad, and kindness can
turn a bad man into good again. He changed because of Bishop Myriel's kindness. "To love
another person is to see the face of God." The actors sang every take in the film, Hugh Jackman
(Jean Valjean) and Anne Hathaway (Fantine) lost weight just to look like their character's
physiques. The actors played their characters very well and can catch the audience's attention.
Moving forward is Dialogue, refers to the spoken exchanges between characters in a work of
fiction, such as a story, play, or film. The majority of Les Misérables is sung, with only a few
spoken lines interspersed. This almost entirely musical notation lends the writing an operatic
quality. "Father, are they still men?" I chose this line because of how society turned to. Giving
Jean Valjean an unhappy expression and saying "sometimes." All the actors in Les Misérables
did a fantastic job with the lines. It was a magnificent presentation. Furthermore, since the
qualities of sound and spectacle are vital to plays, they can only exist in performance or
practice. The content of a play must be seen and audible; otherwise, it is not a play. Spectacles
and music are characteristics exclusive to plays. It is not a play if there is no spectacle or music.
The company acts with a command of language and rhythm, keeping every scene taut, tense,
and perfectly timed, as if equipped with bionic lungs that enable them to reach the prolonged
notes of the musical and emotional crescendos of the first-rate vocalists. It may not be a first
for a musical film to record the performers singing live while they act, but this film's ambition is:
To keep their singing in tune, the actors wore earpieces that transmitted the sound of a live
piano being played offstage. It is a first for a filmed musical that there is no count-in or
predetermined speed, and the piano follows the actor's tempo rather than the other way
around. After production, an orchestral score was added. The sound and spectacle of Les
Misérables is a masterpiece. Everything about Les Misérables is beautiful. In addition, I rate this
movie a 10/10 or a 5-star rating it is perfect in every aspect. I can recommend this to younger
people because it has many life lessons and deep meanings. It allows you to experience the
entirety of Jean Valjean's adult life in your mind's eye. It's a story of mercy and second chances
set against a political backdrop that makes our century seem like a peaceful utopia. You can tap
into the insights of a brilliant mind that has dealt with similar challenges in the past and
insightful topics are presented in exquisite language throughout the film.
