FEATURES AND BENEFITS

Dual Cooling System

A lot of buildings are equipped with central chilled water systems to provide comfort
air conditioning. These systems are usually not design for computer rooms and similar
applications because the chilled water might be unavailable after office hours, during
weekends or during the winter months when general cooling is not needed.

The G-Volution EH Range units are designed to use such chilled water source when it
is available, but also have a direct expansion system to take over if it is not available.
Therefore lower cost chilled water can be used for most of the time, thus saving energy
costs, whilst the direct expansion system will ensure continuity and security when the
chilled water system is not required or is shut down for maintenance. The switching of
the system is control by the intelligent Genius 5+ controller to ensure seamless
operation of the units.

For sites with 2 independent chilled water sources, The EH Range unit can be fitted
with 2 independent chilled water systems. Both set of coils are having same capacity
to have 100% redundancy.

Double Skin Access Panel with Gasket Lining

The solid and rigid double skin insulated access panels on the G-Volution Series
ensure excellent sound isolation and greatly reduce the breakout noise of the unit. The
special FERMAPOR gasket on the door panels effectively eliminates air leakage from
the units. This gasket is applied to the door panels using a special machine to ensure
strong bonding between the gasket and the panels, thus increase the reliability of the
whole panel assembly.

Scroll Compressor

High efficiency hermetic scroll compressors provide reliability, quiet and superior
cooling performance. The compressors are perfect for the application of precision
cooling for data centers, laboratories and equipment rooms. All compressors are with
screw thread connection for easy service and maintenance.

2 Types of Fan Configuration

The G-Volution Series offer 2 types of fan configuration. High efficiency

Electronically Commutated (EC) Fan is offered as standard. Apart from increasing the
efficiency of the units, EC fan also enable various control strategies for data center
cooling such as underfloor pressure control and variable air flow control. For
downflow system, if the raise floor has sufficient height (>400mm), then the
efficiency of the unit can be further improved as much as 15% by locating the EC fan
below the raise floor. For underfloor EC fan option, the fans are located inside the
unit during transportation. After the unit is in position, the fans will be lower down to
underfloor. This has greatly simplified the installation process and also future service
and maintenance.
~2~
Electronic Expansion Valve

The innovative Electronic Expansion Valve (EEV) provides highly efficient control of
refrigerant flow base on real-time feedback. Unlike the conventional Thermostatic
Expansion Valve, the EEV can provide fast, stable and precise control even under low
load condition. The wide operating range of EEV allows the unit operate at lower
condensing pressure and thus increase the efficiency of the unit. The presence of the
temperature & pressure probe allows real time monitoring of suction temperature and
pressure as well as the superheat of the system. Problem such as refrigerant leakage
can be easily detected by checking the superheat & suction pressure from display.

Cooling Coils

Both chilled water coils and direct expansion coils are arranged in V-frame to allow
larger coil to be fitted in to the unit. Large coil face area allows more cooling capacity
at lower face velocity. Therefore, the unit can achieve better efficiency while at the
same time minimizing the air side pressure loss.

Hydrophilic fin provides additional protection to the coil and at the same time, ensure
fast removal of condensate on the coil. Thus, improves the heat transfer and
performance of the coil. Hydrophilic fin also reduce the air friction loss across the coil,
thus reduce the fan power requirement.

Modulating Ball Valves

Modulating ball valves with equal percentage characteristic is used to ensure excellent
control of water flow through the cooling coils. The flow characterised disc inside the
valve has greatly enhance the control stability especially under low load condition.
The standard valve is rated PN25 and has high closed-off pressure rating, therefore
suitable for wide range of operating condition.

Water Temperature Sensors

Inlet water temperature and outlet water temperature (optional) can be fitted to the
units to monitor the supply and return water condition. The inlet water temperature
sensor is responsible for the changeover control of the unit. If the water temperature
measurement exceeds the pre-set threshold, the system would changeover to direct
expansion operation. The unit would provide early warning if the incoming water is
out of the desired operating condition, thus enable early rectification actions and
prevent potential downtime.

Anti-Freeze Sensor

Chilled water coils and DX coils are attached to each other. In case the DX system
freeze due to system malfunction or refrigerant leak, the water inside the chilled water
coils might freeze and damage the tubes inside the coils. Therefore Anti-freeze
sensors are essential to provide protection to the chilled water coil and prevent major
downtime.

Heaters

Depends on models, single stage or multiple stages of PTC heating elements are
balanced over 3 phases and comes with safe dynamic self-regulating function. It
automatic controls the thermal power through air flow to eliminate the possibility of
overheating when air flow is low. It operates at a nearly constant temperature and fast
heat up promise an accurate control of temperature. Uniform heating without power
variation extend the life span of the elements. Proportional heating capacity is
available as an option via power regulators. All heaters are protected by thermal cut-
out switches. The heater may be interlocked with humidifier to reduce power
requirement when operating under power restricted area.

Electrical and Control Panel

High and low voltage cables are segregated and each component is protected by
individual MCB. AC3 components such as fan motors and compressors are protected
by manual motor starters. All cabling are colour coded and numbered for easy
reference.

Genius 5+ Controller

The latest Genius 5+ Controller provides intelligent and advance control for precision
cooling application. The G-Volution Series fitted with Genius 5+ controller, offered
highest flexibility and capability in mission critical cooling control, remote
monitoring and system integration. The Genius 5+ controller supports wide range of
cooling control strategies for mission critical facilities including auto-sequencing,
supply air control and containment system. Energy saving features such as EC fan
control, compressor and EEV optimization and intelligent humidity control are built-
in to the standard control program.

The Genius 5+ controller supports various communication protocols for remote

monitoring. The built-in RS485 communication port is ready for connecting to
Modbus system without needs of additional accessories. Other communication
protocols such as TCP/IP, BACnet and LonWorks are supported with additional
interface cards.

Touch Screen Display

Optional touch screen display provides informative and user-friendly interface for
easy navigation. The display can show graphical information via animated icons and
also capable of plotting trend graphs for temperature and humidity. The display can
support multiple languages such as English, Malay, Chinese, Thai and Japanese.

Humidity Control

The G-Volution Series offered 2 humidity control mode, i.e. the conventional RH
Control Mode and the ASHRAE TC9.9 compliance Dew Point Control Mode.

RH Control Mode (Relative Humidity Control)

In RH Control Mode, room humidity is control in term of Relative Humidity (RH). As

RH is not directly reflexes the actual moisture content in the air, keeping constant RH
might involve adding and removing of moisture just because the change of
temperature instead of the variation in moisture content. These unintended processes
are causing unnecessary power consumption in data center cooling. However, this
humidity control mode shall be chosen for application where RH gives more impact
than the actual moisture content.

Dew Point Control Mode (Absolute Humidity Control)

Since year 2008, ASHRAE TC9.9 has specified recommended humidity in term of
dew point. It specified that the humidity level in data center environment should be
between 5.5°C and 15°C. To comply to the latest ASHRAE recommendation and also
to prevent the unnecessary humidifying and de-humidifying process. Dew Point
Control Mode is preferred over the conventional RH Control Mode.
