The Role: Lead Engineer

We are looking for Lead Engineer who is passionate about solving real world problems for students in online
education using technology. The ideal candidate is the one who can think outside the box, is passionate about
technology, adaptable, thinks big and has a passion for making an impact. Chegg is evolving at a very fast pace and

Responsibilities:
• Contribute towards building the next generation education services which matter to the students.
• Collaborate with other team members, product managers, designers, data scientists and other stakeholders to
deliver on time with high quality.
• Own and drive end to end product development lifecycle.
• Mentor and develop technical talent.
• Optimize application for maximum speed and scalability
• Implement security and data protection.
• Build robust and scalable data infrastructure (both batch processing and real-time) to support needs from
internal and external users
• Architect and implement the most secure platforms that can solve the C100K challenges
• Design and develop high-volume, low-latency applications for mission-critical systems, delivering high-
availability and performance
• Keep technical debt low by reinforcing our Engineering culture of establishing sound practices for ensuring
code reviews, high test coverage, and documentation
• Continuously look for ways to improve our product and processes, provide feedback.

Requirements:
• Working Experience of 7-10 years in product-based medium to large organizations
• Proven team lead with excellent organizational, project planning, communication and team leadership skills
• B.E., B. Tech, Master's degree in computer science or a related technical field
• Strong Computer Science fundamentals with competencies in software design, data structures, and problem-
solving, debugging skills.
• Strong hands-on development experience with Java/J2EE frameworks like Spring Boot including test driven
development.
• Strong experience working with microservices and event driven architectures using message brokers like
Kafka, SQS/SNS
• Experience with RDBMS and NoSQL databases
• Excellent problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to identify performance bottlenecks.
• Experience with cloud service providers such as AWS.
