LEARNING CONTENT

Classical culture is derived from two streams—one coming from

Palestine in the East, and the other, from Greece in the West. From the
Hebrews of ancient Palestine comes the idea of personal God and moral code
inspired by this God.
The Bible of the Hebrews is said to be the world’s most widely read
book. It contains wide assortment of literature: songs, parables, riddles,
exalted poetry, proverbs, history, drama, war, biography, philosophy and
short stories—all imbued with the moral of living. Many ideas from literary
works have been inspired by the Bible. For Christians, the Bible is the Word of
God.

Some trivia about the Bible:

➢ Hebrew Scriptures- literary achievement of Ancient Israel.

➢ Known now as the Sacred Scriptures or The Bible.
➢ The Bible is a collection of books written by various authors.
➢ The Bible contains different events and history of Ancient Israel. (Old
Testament) and the life, passion, death, resurrection of Jesus Christ
(New Testament)
➢ The Bible is the most sacred book of the Jews and Christians who
consider it to be the “Word of God”
➢ Has the most important beliefs, ceremonies, holidays.

word or phrase in a text.

which parts of the sentence are
grammatically the same, or are
similar in construction. It can be a
word, a phrase, or an entire
sentence repeated.

➢ Simile- is a figure of speech and

type of metaphor that compares
two different things using the
words “like” or “as.”

that describes an object or action
in a way that isn't literally true,
but helps explain an idea or make
a comparison.
