ABSTRACT

Non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) is considered to be one of the possible radio access techniques for enhancement
towards 5G. It provides better performance gains as compared to the orthogonal multiple access (OMA) techniques. In this paper,
we study the downlink NOMA performance using the perfect and imperfect successive interference cancellation (SIC). The
purpose of this study is to provide a realistic approach of applying SIC rather than considering the ideal SIC conditions. The
receiver performance is measured in terms of bit error rate (BER) for both perfect and imperfect SIC and the results are provided
at the end of the paper.
