Design Problem: VII Semester

“INDIAN CENTRE FOR CULTURE & HERITAGE”


India is a growing economy due to the influx of foreign investments and development of
technology. Due to the movement “Make in India” the companies from abroad are opening
their manufacturing units here. There are high possibilities of sales and marketing hubs
also in India. The whole process will lead to visit of experts and professionals from
developed countries to promote their products as India is also a consumer market.
Keeping all this in mind students are required to design a Indian Centre for culture &
Heritage” in accordance with norms of Ministry of Tourism.
Design Requirements for Indian Centre for Culture & Heritage:
Some basic requirements are being provided below for designing-
 Reception & Waiting area for 30-40 people
 Manager room with toilet
 Assistant manager room
 Food and Beverage manager
 Administrative staff area
 Banquet halls = 3 No.
 Multi cousin Restaurants = 2 No.
 24 Hour coffee shop
 Bar = 2 No.
 Double bed rooms with attached toilets (Presidential suits) = 75 No.
 Double bed rooms with attached toilets (Luxury family suits) = 50 No.
 Luxury Suits (Studio apartment)= 50 No.
 Single occupancy rooms (Deluxe rooms) = 30 No.
 Conference halls = 5 No.
 Health club = Gym + SPA + Sauna bath = 1 No.
 Swimming pool with supporting facilities= 1 No. (Optional)
 Laundry area
 Housekeeping department area with chief house keeper room
 Business centre with supporting activities Meeting rooms of varying
capacity (4- 20 persons) and supporting activity= 1 No.
 Ancillary spaces for Wi-Fi set up
 Shoe cleaning area
 Children’s activity area
 Library
 Smoking rooms
 Shopping centre with all supporting activities at ground and first floor
level, above first floor level Hotel spaces.
Design requirements for Haryana Haat:

1. Auditorium for 500 people which has :


Entrance Foyer: 200 Sqm
Ticket Counters: 02 nos
Green Rooms with wash rooms for performers.
Public utilities (i.e. Toilets, Snack/tea/drink stall
Managers office: 15 sqm
Stores: 20 Sqm
2. Administrative Office : 150 sqm
3. Open Air Theatre for 200 People
4. Food Kiosks with flavor of different culture: 12 Nos (Area 20 Sqm each) with indoor
and open eating spaces.
(Can be permanent or semi-permanent structure
5. Shopping centre with basic amenities : 2000-2500 Sqm
6. Theme based handicraft shops representing various culture of India : 10 Nos (Area
20 sqm each)
7. Indoor Games: ie. Table tennis, badminton, pool, snooker etc.
8. Multipurpose hall: 500 sqm.
9. Play field, basketball court, volleyball court, etc.

Site control:
Total Site Area: Aprox 5 Acres
Total car parking requirement= 2ECS/100 sq. m. Built up area
Open car parking (No.) = 15% of total car parking
Building control:
Maximum ground coverage permitted= 40%
Maximum FAR Permitted = 175%
Height permitted = No Limit
Front Setback = 15 m
Rear Setback = 9 m
Side setback = 9 m
Basement floor (Maximum) = 2
