INTRODUCTION.

According to C.C.Crawford the term research is simply a systematic and refined technique of
thinking, employing specialized tools, instruments and procedures in order to obtain a more
adequate solution of a problem. In other terms research can be also defined as the creation of
new knowledge or use of existing knowledge in a new creative way so as to generate new
concepts, methodologies and understandings.1 The main objective of a research is to explore the
unknown and unlock new possibilities. There are various types of research such as, Descriptive
and Analytical research, Applied and Fundamental research, Qualitative and Quantitative
research, Conceptual and Empirical research.

Research problem, is a statement about an area of concern, a condition to be improved, a

difficulty to be eliminated or a troubling question that exists in theory or in practice that points to
the need for meaningful understanding and deliberate investigation. When carrying out research,
researchers are bound to follow all steps of research however some face difficulties in
formulating a research problem.

MAIN BODY

The following are the difficulties faced by researchers in formulating a research problem.

Sample size. The importance of sample size is greater in the quantitative studies example
TUDARCO law graduates performance in law school. If the sample size is too small the
statistical tests will not be able to identify the significant relationship within the data. Hence your
research needs larger sample size for accurate results.

Lack of literature review. The literature review findings are more important in any research
since it helps to gain an understanding of the existing research and debates relevant to a
particular topic that a researcher is doing thus its findings helps the researcher to be built upon to
achieve the research objective. Hence without a review of that a researcher will not know
whether his findings are original or whether what you find has not already been found by
someone else.

Limited access to information. A researcher may involve some institutions and individuals in
his research whereby he can face problems in accessing them. Hence that researcher is bound to
re-write and re-design his work and explain to the readers the reasons for the limited access.

Interest. The whole research process is normally time consuming and needs a lot of hard
work, if a researcher chooses a topic or tittle that he or she has no interest with it becomes
difficult to keep on working on that topic hence he faces difficulties in carrying out the research
throughout.

Expertise. When carrying out a research, the researcher before selecting a research problem
he or she needs to ensure the he has met a certain level of expertise in the area proposed. He
should make sure that the facts learned during the study your supervisors will lend a hand as
well.

Research ethics. This involves the application of fundamental ethical principles to research
activities that include the design and implementation of research, respect towards the society, the
use of resources and research outputs. Hence you should consider some ethical issues as well.

Insufficient data. This means no enough data to identify the application. However incomplete
data can also illuminate opportunities and unanswered questions. One of the way to attack
research findings is to challenge the accuracy of data used in research. Hence due to insufficient
data even a small percentage of missing data can cause serious problems with the analysis
leading to draw wrong conclusions and imperfect knowledge.

CONCLUSION.

The researcher has to consider the factors listed and explain above in order to make his research
process more manageable and be motivated as it is useful by various type of people as juristic,
the government, philosophers and thinkers as well as the whole society as large.
