1. After reading the article, and based on the class discussions, would you recommend the use of
nanotechnology in food items or food packaging? Why or why not?
- In my perspective, the use of nanotechnology in food items or food packaging can be
recommended. According to what I learned, nanotechnology is used to make food tastier,
and safe, and has more health benefits through proper protection that the nanoparticles
provide. For food packaging, nanotechnology is a must because it has nanocomposites
that provide a barrier to gasses. Nanotechnology also protects the food from bacteria and
avoids quick rotting of the food by storing it on containers.

2. How can humans avoid the possible damaging effects of nanotechnology?

- In order to avoid the damaging effect of nanotechnology, I found some things to do. First is
to restrict access to areas where nanomaterials are used. Second is sealing or closing bags
or containers or cover all containers when not in use. Third is to establish a chemical safety
or hygiene plan. Fourth is to dispose of cleaning materials in a sealed bag to prevent
further release of the nanomaterial. So those are some examples that humans can do to
avoid the damaging effect of nanotechnology. Even in the simple things we can avoid the
damaging effects of nanotechnology.
