ENGLISH DEPARTMENT ACCOMPLISHMENT REPORT

F.Y. 2021
I. INTRODUCTION
This Narrative Report is a summary of accomplishment of English Department

from January to April 2022. The report stresses the students’ activities, teachers’
achievement and school accomplishments.
This report stated all the hardship, perseverance and patience of all the people
behind the success of DELA PAZ NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL-BNHS ANNEX.
II. AREA THRUST
A. STUDENT’S DEVELOPMENT
The development and welfare of the students were the primary concern of this
institution. In these regards, activities were tailored for their academic, social and spiritual
growth. Even though the school faced different challenges, specifically this time of
pandemic, still the school head, the school coordinators, and the teachers worked hand
and hand to be able to meet the needs of all the learners. The school made a plan on
how to distribute and retrieve the modules to be use by the learners before the
resumption of classes and fortunately it was successful.
Students were able to continue their study by means of modular distance learning
modalities. Before the start of classes last August, teachers printed lack modules.

Last September, English and Filipino Department launched the BRIGADA

PAGBASA through Video posting via FB page of DNHS. Students were monitored
through video call and by sending video to their English and Filipino Teacher.

In accordance to this program also, and in line with the Memorandum DM-CI-2021-
00466 “2021 PAMBANSANG BUWAN AT ARAW NG PAGBASA”, English Department
also conducted activities that enhance students’ skills and talents.

The English Department planned for this Month-long program through FGD/ virtual
meeting last November that came up with an action plan. Attached here below are the
action plan and set of activities.

In addition, a set of new English Club officers were elected last Nov. 19,2021. The
purpose of electing this Club Officers is to enhance the students’ leadership skills and
boost their confidence in communicating with other students.
During the online Election of Officers, the English Club Adviser- Ms. Amity Firmo, send a poll to the Group Chat she
created and ask the club members to vote their chosen officers for this school year. The running officers sent their
short video of introducing their self and what position they are running for.

B. STAFF DEVELOPMENT
In compliance with the DepEd orders, teachers and administrator attended

seminars, meeting and training of their respective areas for their professional
development, secondary to the welfare of the students.
FOCUS GROUP DISCUSSION OF ENGLISH AND FILIPINO TEACHERS
August 19, 2021
The first FGD collaboration of English and Filipino was conducted via zoom platform. It started at
exactly 2 o’clock in the afternoon and was begun by a short prayed led by Mrs. Esperanza Manlulu.
Thereafter, Ms. Amity Firmo initiated the discussion by reviewing the Brigada Pagbasa program of
the World Vision. Ms. Mariz Nayle and Mr. Arturo Moris gave their insights and some teachers agreed and
elaborated the rolled-out process of the said program.

The crafting of Action Plan was done through the collaboration and ideas of English and Filipino
Teachers. Thus, it became easy and made well.

Furthermore, some English Teachers also attended the RACAS webinar

“READING IN THE NEW NORMAL” via FB live.
Teachers learned about

differentiating reading materials
though readability measures and
understand differentiated instruction and its type. Most of all, on how to apply DI principles
in planning activities and reading intervention.
Finally, last Nov. 14,2020 the English Department held its virtual meeting and had
planned for the English Month activities. Moreover, teachers also became part of the
Book Character Dress-Up.

Last April 30, 2022, All English Teachers invited to join in the Philippines Graphic
Reader Masterclass Literature Webinar via Zoom. The activity aims to teach the
fundamentals of writing fiction. From this webinar the teachers gained inspiration for
writing a short story, knew the elements of a good short story, develop a plot and create
the characters of the short story. The speakers explained some ways to hone skills in
writing a short story with the participation of Dra. Edna Faura - Agustin our School
Division Superintended.
