The Filipino people's rage at the corruption and violence of the to overthrow President

Ferdinand Marcos' brutal and corrupt government. The People Power Revolution was praised.

Many emerged from the incident victorious. Because of the end of tyranny, the Filipino people

now enjoy true freedom. This is a historical and significant development. The EDSA Revolution

of 1986 was successful because it brought an end to President Ferdinand E. Marcos' dictatorship

and ushered in a new age of genuine freedom and democracy. It was successful in that it helped

us move away from dictatorship.

The 1986 constitution, which continues to be the supreme law of the land, was restored to

the Filipinos by the revolution. For more than 30 years, this fundamental rule allowed for the

peaceful transition of power without any one leader taking on the role of a long-term autocrat.

The Ferdinand Marcos family benefited from this constitution as well because they were able to

run for various positions under its guidelines. Although our country is still operating under this

imperfect constitution, its effects can be summed up as a change in the Presidency and changes

to the framework of our political system from the so-called dictatorship by Marcos for 21 years

to the so-called Democratic change whereby the succeeding President was democratically

elected. The Filipino people's rage at the corruption and violence of the Marcos regime was what

spurred them on to revolt.

Eastern Europe's so-called Color Revolution was an imitation of the EDSA Revolution in

the Philippines. It resulted in the fall of the Berlin Wall and the complete dissolution of the
Soviet Union. Although it was imitated in China, the Chinese Armed Forces supported the ruling

Communist Party of China. In China, there is no true democracy where citizens choose and elect

political parties and leaders. As a result, new nations were formed in Europe, Asia, and Oceania.

Everyone now wants to have a democratic form of government and be an independent country.

However, this is only as good as the people's decisions and vigilance.
