Attachment B Voluntary Written Commitment Submission Parameters
Attachment B Voluntary Written Commitment Submission Parameters
In addition to remarks from President Biden, the United States will make public its own written
compendium of announcements, initiatives, and commitments, and we respectfully invite others
to do the same. While voluntary, those that elect to make initiatives and commitments public are
invited to provide their written compendium for posting on the Summit’s web page
(state.gov/democracysummit)
File Type: .DOC (Microsoft Word) format is preferred to ensure the Department of State can
mitigate any accessibility compliance issues (to align with Section 508 Standards of the
Rehabilitation Act). Non-compliance with below outlined terms or accessibility standards may
significantly delay posting.
Font and Type Size: Use accessible fonts (Sans Serif fonts such as Arial, Calibri, Verdana,
Helvetica, etc.). Utilize font sizes 12-14 pts for regular text and 14 and higher for headings
(bolded or regular text). Avoid using all caps or italics – use bolded text instead.
Text: Document should be an original file and cannot be a scanned image. All text should be in
black on a white background. Avoid using images of text anywhere, especially for lists and
headings
Graphics: Provide alternate text (below 125 characters) for embedded graphics such as flags,
logos or images. Please include figure captions with images -- do not duplicate image alt text &
figure captions.
Additional Formatting Recommendations: Ensure topics are organized into heading levels
(main topic and subtopics). Do not use actual URLs but provide a meaningful name with action
identified (“e.g. visit, find, explore”) for links. Avoid using tables for presentation layout and
instead, use column layout just for the intended section. If utilizing tables, avoid merged/split
cells in tables but ensure the table has a header row with column names.
Submission Deadline: Any videos submitted prior to December 3, 2021 will be posted after the
Summit concludes; videos and commitments submitted after this date will be accepted until
January 7, 2022.
