LISTENING TO THE VOICE OF THE EARTH
(continued)

Pope Francis established September 1 as the World Day of

Prayer for the Care of Creation. In response to this, DBST
President Fr. Francis Gustilo SDB opened the month of
September with a Prayer Ritual for the Season of Creation. The
ritual was participated by the several congregations that are
enrolled in DBST. Fr. Antonio Molavin SDB, the convener of Don
Bosco Green Alliance and member of the steering board of the
Pontifical Commission on Ecology and Creation, said during his
sharing that the biggest issue right now is saving Mother Earth.
Living our vocation is “essential and not optional” in our
Christian experience. He said that we all have a role to play to
save Mother Earth. At the end of his sharing, he gave the
seminarians and lay, mission partners, two challenges: 1. Ask
themselves the question, “What can I do every day to save
Mother Earth?” and 2. Come to know more about the beauty of
creation. He further said that the call of Pope Francis to
ecological conversion can bring about a rebirth into coming to
discover more about God and the beauty of His creation.

In closing, Fr Francis Gustilo SDB made an announcement

that DBST will have a fund-raising golf tournament that will be
dedicated to establishing the eco-theology curriculum and the
sponsorship of scholars who will pioneer this program. He also
exhorted the students from the 13 countries enrolled in DBST to
be ambassadors of ecology to their Salesian Confreres and
institutions to they will someday belong.

We have long been ignoring the cries of Mother Earth and

so it’s time for us to listen to her before it’s too late. DBST is
making a stand and we want to involve as many as possible.
Supporting DBST financially means joining us in this endeavor.
