SECTION A (20 MARKS)
1. A secondary school has two levels, that is ‘O’ and ‘A’ level. The Director or Studies (DOS) needs to
draw a time table for both levels. The two Levels should start and end their morning lessons at the
same time before BREAK time, Start and end their BREAK time at the same time. The after BREAK
lessons should start at the same time. The LUNCH time for both levels start at the same time. The time
to start lessons for the two levels is 8:00am. The duration of the lessons for ‘O’ level is 30minutes and
that of ‘A’ level is 40minutes.
a) Help the DOS by drawing the TIME TABLE up to lunch for the two levels
b) How many lessons does each level have up to Lunch time
c) Express the total number of Lessons for ‘O’ Level as a fraction of the total number of Lesson for the
whole school. (Consider lessons up to Lunch time)

2. Using a ruler, a pencil and a pair of compasses only;
a) Construct a triangle ABC, with AB=8cm, BC=12cm and angle BAC=1200 .
b) (i) Draw a perpendicular line to BC from A. The perpendicular meets BC at point D
(ii) Measure the AD and find the area of the triangle ABC
c) Inscribe a circle in the triangle ABC and measure its radius (12 marks)

3. Find the missing numbers to complete the sequences below
a) 3, 5, 9, 17, ………., …………. (02 marks)
b) 3, 6, 10, 15, ………, ………… (02 marks)
4. S(3, 5), T(3,2) and U(8,2) are three of the corners of a rectangle. Draw the rectangle on the graph, give
coordinates of the forth corner. How long is the side from S to T of the rectangle? (02 marks)
5. Due to drought and famine in Karamoja region, the cattle population decreased to 154,000, representing
a drop 12%, according to the Uganda veterinary Survey Report. Find the previous cattle population of
the region. (02 marks)
6. Allen, Joshua and Elisa are running 10000 meter race. Allen completes her first lap after 60 seconds,
Elisa completes his first lap after 75 seconds while Joshua completes his after 90 seconds. When will
they all be at the starting point together? (Assuming they maintain a constant speed at which they are
running) (02 marks)
