TITLE: THE ULTIMATE LOVE OF GOD

TEXT: John 3:16

THEME: THE MEANING OF GOD’S ULTIMATE LOVE
TARGET: The listeners will understand God’s ultimate love for everyone, and by that they will accept God’s love in their life.
TRANSITION: John 3:16 tells us about the meaning of God’s ultimate love; that God’s ultimate love means:

I. ULTIMATE DECLARATION
A. V. 16 “For God so loved the world…”
B. EXPLANATION
1. the One declaring love is the Creator of the universe.
2. Human love is limited: A baby loves her mother. A mother loves her baby. She can love her husband. But our
love has limitations.
3. An infinite God with infinite capacities has a love that unlimited.
4. God doesn’t just HAVE love; the Bible says that GOD IS LOVE.

C. PROOF
1. 1 John 4:8 Whoever does not love does not know God, because God is love.
2. Jeremiah 31:3 “I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.”
D. ILLUSTRATION
E. APPLICATION: We may have experienced love but in the end it did not last, or at times we lose hope of
experiencing love, or maybe you felt a hallow inside you. God’s ultimate love is the solution.
II. ULTIMATE DEMONSTRATION
A. V. 16 “...that He gave His only begotten Son…”
B. EXPLANATION
1. We’ve all received really nice gifts in our life. We’ve also given what we felt were really nice gifts. We’ve all
been in a position where we were overwhelmed with the gift that we received; we’ve felt unworthy.

2. The gift that God gave was the Ultimate Demonstration of love and affection.

3. He didn’t give a THING, He gave A PERSON. It wasn’t just a person, it was His son. It wasn’t just His Son, it was
HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON. If I were to give a son, I have two more. But He gave HIS ONLY BEGOTTEN SON. He
sent His only Son to be born and live on this earth for 33 ½ years.

4. It would have been one thing to send His Son down as a full grown adult to be offered as the Perfect Sacrifice,
but He sent His Son to be born, and live, and suffer, and be tempted, and abused, and mistreated AND THEN
BE KILLED.
5. That is why I call it the ULTIMATE DEMONSTRATION.
 C. PROOF
1. Romans 5: 6-8 “6 You see, at just the right time, when we were still powerless, Christ died for the ungodly. 7
Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous person, though for a good person someone might possibly dare to
die. 8 But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
D. ILLUSTRATION: Mother & Community Leader
E. APPLICATION: God loves us so much, that He offered His Son on our behalf, we were the ones guilty of sin, but
because He loved us so much and does not want to suffer eternal damnation and separation from Him, He sent
Jesus Christ to redeem us.

III. ULTIMATE DECISION

A. V. 16 “that whosoever believeth in Him…”
B. EXPLANATION
1. When you stop to think of how many decisions a person makes in their life, it is astounding. Not even counting
the years as a child, but looking at the thousands of decisions we make in our lifetime. Our first car, our
girlfriend, college, classes, wife, jobs, houses, vacations, kids, our kids’ girlfriends.
2. But no decision we will ever make will come close to the ULTIMATE DECISION we will make concerning Jesus.
C. PROOF
1. Matthew 27:22 “…What shall I do then with Jesus which is called Christ?”
2. This is far more than a sales pitch. This is THE ULTIMATE DECISION.
D. ILLUSTRATION:
E. APPLICATION: This decision is simply – WILL YOU BELIEVE? Will you put your faith in the One that was sent; given
by God to take your sin punishment on the cross?
CONCLUSION
Summary: Today you have heard the Ultimate Love of God. He loves you and me, His love ultimate love led Him to an ultimate
declaration to love everyone even when we don’t love Him yet. His ultimate love led Him to an ultimate demonstration by sending
Jesus Christ to die on our place. In return His ultimate love is waiting for your ultimate decision.

Application: God made His ultimate declaration of Love, what will be your declaration? He made His ultimate demonstration by
sacrificing Jesus Christ in your behalf, in return what are you willing to sacrifice? He is waiting of your Ultimate Decision today.

Invitation: Will you accept God’s ultimate love? Will you believe in the Lord Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior? IF you will do so,
your ultimate decision will bring forth the ultimate reward that is eternal life.
