Section 2. PURPOSE.
Section 4. STRATEGIES. - The purpose may be achieved through any but not
fimited to the following strategies:
b. By monitoring and ensuring that all food outlets, restaurants and stores will
only use and sell iodized salt.
1. Manage and coordinate the Provincial Salt Iodization Program (PSIP) in the
cities/municipalities through formulating the annual operation plan, organizing
the Bantay Asin Task Force, and coordinating with stakeholders like salt
producers and traders.
2. Lead in the advocacy campaign for full and effective implementation of the
ASIN law in the province including ensuring sustainable support and program.
a. Salt producers/manufacturers shall register with the BFAD and iodized salt
produced/manufactured shall conform to the standards set by the BFAD to
meet the nutritional needs of the consumers.
c. All food-grade salt shall be labelled in a manner that is true and accurate,
not likely to mislead purchasers and in accordance with the requirements
prescribed by the BFAD. Those establishments shall be monitored by the
Provincial Health Office (PHO).
Section 11. PENALTY CLAUSE. - Any person natural or juridical who shall violate
any of the provisions of this Ordinance or its Implementing Rules and Regulations
shall be punished by a fine of not less than One Thousand Pesos (PhP1,000) nor
more than Five Thousand Pesos (PhP5,000) upon the courts discretion.
However, if the violation is committed by any officer of a juridical entity, such officer
responsible therefore shall be personally liable for the fine. Accordingly, such violator
shall suffer a revocation of its business permit.
