Second Semester, Academic Year 2022-2023

Course Name PA 114: Politics and Administration


Course Description This course will provide you core technical foundation in the field of public administration with emphasis on political goals of the
nation including nation building, legitimacy and other issues of political development. Also, to understand the reciprocal influence of
politics and administration and the role of bureaucracy to attain nation building.

Prerequisite Philippine Administrative Thought and Institutions and Introduction to Political Science
Demonstrate an understanding of politics and political science, political ideologies, power, states, nations, and globalization
Identify what are the difference between political science and public administration
Course Outcomes Know the functions of politics in the Philippines
Know the forms of government in Philippine setting.

Explain how public administration relates to the political process is of pivotal importance to scholars and
practitioners alike as it bears implications for disciplinary identity (and autonomy) and
institutional development of public administration
Differentiate politics from administration

Construct productive research questions using approaches of public administration studies to criticize public administration studies
in the context of population and development research agenda- engage with up-to-date academic discussions in the field of public

Apply the concepts of public administration and political science mainstreaming to their research designs in comparative social
