Science Film Viewing Reflection Paper

Up to this day, no one knows what caused COVID-19. Some say that it started
with a bat but it's not scientifically confirmed. This video shows that a bunch of bat
ecologists, virologists, professors, and a documentarian went up a mountain called Mt.
Makiling to study the bats that were allegedly the cause of COVID-19. It's called a
horseshoe bat. It was the cause of a virus in china called SARSCOV2, a virus similar to
COVID-19 but not 100% similar. What they do to the bats is they test them. They swab
it. They use cotton buds to rub it all over their body then testing it to find out if they have
the virus or don't. This type of experimentation is important especially to us since it
gives scientists knowledge about this kind of thing. But unfortunately, they are
nongovernment funded which means they only rely on their own money or donations.
Sloths are tree dwellers typically found in Central and South America. They are
usually about 2.5 feet and weigh between 9 and 17 pounds but these little fur animals
used to be at least 20 feet tall. About 13, 000 years ago, Giant Ground Sloths used to
roam on earth specifically in South America. Scientists found traces of a Giant Sloth on
the Southern US border of Mexico. They made a theory that that sloth was just walking
but a man was following he intended to kill him but he wasn't succeeding when
suddenly a man from behind stabbed the sloth causing him to fall and die.
Did you know that methane can create an explosion crater? In Russian Siberian,
there are several cratering events. Researchers measure a high concentration of one
type of gas called methane gas. It's also known as "swamp gas" or "putrid gas". It has
been formed for over a million years now at the bottom of lakes and oceans.
