ROMI BEAN NAMED LEAD CBS COLORADO SPORTS ANCHOR

Denver—(January 20, 2023) CBS Colorado announced today that Romi Bean has been named
sports anchor of CBS COLORADO NEWS AT FIVE, CBS COLORADO NEWS AT SIX and CBS
COLORADO NEWS AT TEN and will succeed Michael Spencer when he joins Karen Leigh on the
main anchor desk at the end of March 2023.

“We are so pleased to announce Romi’s new position as lead sports anchor,” Vice President and
News Director Kristine Strain said. “CBS Colorado made a commitment to serve our
communities with reporting that resonates with the audience and that’s why she is the perfect
choice. Romi is the first female main sports anchor in the Denver television market, she knows
Colorado sports and fans love her.”

"Sports isn't just a job for me. It's my life. I pour my heart and soul into connecting with
Colorado's incredible sports fans," Romi said. "Reporting on Colorado's teams/athletes and
sharing the sports stories that matter to our viewers is a responsibility I don't take lightly. I'm
thrilled about the opportunity to develop deeper connections with the community in this new
role at CBS Colorado."

“Most of the people you see anchoring sportscasts, covering sports stories and announcing
sporting events are men,” CBS Colorado General Manager Tim Wieland added. “Romi does this
work at the highest level while also demonstrating the courage and commitment to break
barriers, and the compassion and vision to support girls and young women interested in
following her career path.”
Unlike most in the business, Romi did not go to school for communications or journalism. She
graduated from the University of Colorado -- Leeds School of Business, but writing and
journalism have always been her passion. Her career at CBS News Colorado started by covering
the Broncos on CBS Colorado Mornings on a part-time basis. She used the experience to learn
as much as she could about anchoring sportscasts, writing stories, reporting and meeting
people in the community. Her hard work and dedication led to a full-time position in 2018 and
most recently, she was named co-Colorado Sportscaster of the Year by the National Sports
Media Association. In the past year, her on-air work included coverage of the Colorado
Avalanche's Stanley Cup Championship and parade in downtown Denver in June, and the
Broncos tough 2022 season, which included a trip to London to cover the Broncos-Jaguars
game.
