Jaipuria Institute of Management: Operation Research Project On Food Intake of Boys at Jaipuria
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
We are greatly indebted to Prof. Dr. Summi Khare for her content support, guidance, valuable suggestions and motivation by which this work has been completed effectively and efficiently. These all contributions are of immense value. The project provided us in understanding the meeting management of both public as well as private sector in medical field, which would really help us in future. It is our proud privilege to express our sincere gratitude to all those who helped us directly or indirectly in completion of this project report.
INTRODUCTION
At jaipuria institute of management there are near about 500 students are studying. Approximately 150 are living in the hostel. The fooding and lodging is provided by the college it self. College is having canteen which is providing fooding facility to the student. The food menu of hostel is decided by the management of the college. In this particular project we are trying to analyze that how much nutrients like fat protein, carbohydrate are provided to the student. We are trying to analyze daily requirement of the nutrients and supplied by the canteen food. As the nutrients are the main sources which provide energy to the body of a human being, body can not function properly if they are not getting the adequate amount of minerals and nutrients. Being student of jaipuria institute of management it was very grateful for us to identify the nutrients in the food provided by the college canteen. It was great to do project with Dr.sumi khare we found every thing new and full of knowledge.
PROBLEM
Decision variables: x1, x2, x3, x4, x5, x6(xi = the number of units consumed of various nutrients by boys) Objective function: Max calorie intake = 1.81x1 + 2.6x2 + .7x3 + 1.34x4 + 1.55x5 + 1.51x6 Constraints : Nutrients Carbohydrates Protein Fat Component Vegetables Other vegetables \Milk Rice Additional constraints :
o Boys should have 6 chapatis every day. o 100gms of pulses should be consumed daily by Boys.
Assumptions All boys do light exercise i.e. walk for not more than 2 hours.

Analysis
1. Our objective was to maximize the calorie intake of the boys dwelling in
Jaipuria hostel. We took various variables which were important for a balanced diet such as-chapati, pulses, vegetables, other vegetables, milk, and rice.
2. Solving the equation on excel sheet through solver we found that the
optimum calorie intake by a boy is 20.4675. 3. Results of the optimum combination of various components are also found as to what extent we should consume the quantity of the components to get optimum calories.
4. Sensitivity analysis shows that unto what extent we can change our
