(5) EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

In previous times when technology hadn't been excavated much, Thermoelectric

generators, also known as Seebeck generators, are devices that can turn temperature

fluctuations into electricity. They developed a flexible generator that can be wrapped around

hot surfaces such as pipes, converting heat that would otherwise be wasted into electricity.

Now, the Researchers are using this idea to make a Powerbank-like Tumbler that uses

Heat/Cold to make Electricity that can charge Devices. Such as Cellphones, iPads, Laptops, and

more.

(6) INTRODUCTION

Heat and Cold can be good or bad for a person depending on their Body

Temperature Control System. But what if we turn this Heat Into Electricity? And No, not just

Normal electricity, it Is Electricity in a Bottle.

Introducing The ElectroFlask, a Tumbler that can turn Cold or Heat into

Electricity that can charge our Phones anytime. And, no, you don’t have to load it up with

batteries, or tether it to a wall outlet. Instead, it generates the power all on its own using the

heat or cool it draws out of your drink. All drinks won't work with it. For instance, Tap water

straight from the faucet is unlikely to be beneficial to your cause. Instead, since they produce

the greatest amount of heat differential, the generator functions best with either extremely hot

or extremely cold liquids. So that's why the researchers will make a double-walled container

inside it. Just like a thermos. So that it will maintain the Heat or Coldness inside the Tumbler

It can be used when you are traveling and you can't find any outlet to charge your

device. And at the same time, you can enjoy your drink whenever you want.

The Researchers have brought to this study because nowadays, people are most

likely with technology especially Cellphones, tablets, laptops, and many more. Researchers are

aiming to develop a device that can charge your electronic devices, so that if you are traveling,

you won't be stressed on finding an outlet when your phone's battery is dead. People nowadays

mostly use gadgets everyday, this leads the Researchers for this idea so that it will not only

decreases the usage of electricity, but also conserve Energy.

(6.2) SCIENTIFIC BASIS/THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK/MATHEMATICAL

THEORY INVOLVED

When different metals are subjected to temperature variations, the Seebeck Effect

results in the generation of an electric current. The basis for Thermoelectric Generators (TEGs)

or Seebeck generators, which converts heat into energy. A Thermoelectric Generator (TEG),

also known as a Seebeck generator, is a solid state device that utilizes the Seebeck effect to

transform heat flow (temperature differential) into electrical energy (a form of thermoelectric

effect). This way, Electricity can be produced using Temperature variations. Thus, useful for

the study of the researchers.

Now, Powerbanks use Lithium Lithium-Ion and Lithium-Polymer batteries. A

lithium-ion or Li-ion battery is a type of rechargeable battery which uses the reversible

reduction of lithium ions to store energy. It is the predominant battery type used in portable

consumer electronics and electric vehicles.

While A Lithium Polymer Battery, or more correctly Lithium-Ion Polymer

Battery, is a rechargeable battery of lithium-ion technology using a polymer electrolyte instead

of a liquid electrolyte. High conductivity semisolid (gel) polymers form this electrolyte. These

batteries provide higher specific energy than other lithium battery types and are used in

applications where weight is a critical feature, such as mobile devices, radio-controlled aircraft

and some electric vehicles. These two devices can be connected in order to make the Invention

made by the Researchers.

(6.3) OBJECTIVES

This study's main objective is to develop a device that uses renewable energy, and

one of its key objectives is to ensure that it is extremely effective and efficient when in use.

Specifically, the objectives in this study are:

• To conserve Energy. Lower living costs are the effect of energy conservation because it saves

money. It helps consumers keep more money in their own pockets while simultaneously

reducing carbon dioxide emissions and excessive resource use.

• People won't worry when their battery is dead while traveling because they can charge their

Devices anytime and anywhere.

(7) REVIEW OF LITERATURE

(National)

Since the beginning of 1992, the Philippines has been experiencing daily

brownout as a result of power shortages. One logical solution to this major problem is to look

for non-conventional sources of energy. Battery cells provide a source of power when

electricity is not available. (Guerra, Alicante, Iresh, Fortes, Merano, & Bangalisan, (2020))

With the natural sources of energy such as fossil fuels is slowly depleting, it

became a trend to find new sources of unlimited energy. Renewable source of energy is the best

source of unlimited energy for it will be utilizing the resources around like solar, hydro, wind,

and many more. One of those newly developed renewable sources utilizes the waste heat

developed by individual machines. Since electrical generating machines that use combustion

engines generate a considerable amount of waste heat energy from the exhaust gases. (Cepe,

Ricafort, & Rosal (2020))

Thermoelectric Generator (TEG) module converts heat energy into electric energy

through temperature difference generated from both the hot and cold side of the module itself.

This study used eight thermoelectric modules for the accumulation of waste heat to the hot side

of the module and as for the cooling side; the researchers used a radiator as a medium to hold

the cold substance. Based on the result of the testing, the device works best on waste heat

source from transport systems. For the cold side of the TEG device, cold water exhibits better

performance in charging the batteries. Practically, the device can be used anytime and

anywhere by anyone as long as the source has the capacity to generate sufficient heat. (Marcos,

Cristomoso, Granado, Peralta, & Matias (2020))

Energy crisis and environment deterioration are two major problems for 21st

century. Thermoelectric device is a promising solution for those two problems. This review

begins with the basic concepts of the thermoelectric and discusses its recent material researches

about the figure of merit. It also reports the recent applications of the thermoelectric generator,

including the structure optimization which significantly affects the thermoelectric generator, the

low temperature recovery, the heat resource and its application area. Then it reports the recent

application of the thermoelectric cooler including the thermoelectric model and its application

area. It ends with the discussion of the further research direction. (He, Zhang, Zhang, Ji, Li, &

To understand the importance taking thermal and electrical contact resistances into

account in analysis of thermoelectric generators, full-scale modules were studied. Contact

resistances were determined by means of non-linear regression analysis on the basis of results

from 3D finite element simulations and experiments in a setup in which heat flow, voltage, and

current were measured. Statistical evaluation showed that the model and the identified contact

resistances enabled excellent prediction of performance over the entire range of operating

conditions. It was shown that if contact resistances were not included in the analysis the

simulations significantly over-predicted both heat flow and electric power output, and it was

concluded that contact resistance should always be included in module simulations. (Högblom

& Andersson, (2014)

Thermoelectric generators (TEGs) are a form of energy harvester and eco-friendly

power generation system that directly transform thermal energy into electrical energy. The

thermoelectric (TE) method of energy harvesting takes advantage of the Seebeck effect, which

offers a simple solution for fulfilling the power-supply demand in almost every electronics

system. A high-temperature condition is commonly essential in the working mechanism of the

TE device, which unfortunately limits the potential implementation of the device. This paper

presents an in-depth analysis of TEGs at low operating temperature. The review starts with an

extensive description of their fundamental working principles, structure, physical properties,

and the figure of merit (ZT). An overview of the associated key challenges in optimising ZT

value according to the physical properties is discussed, including the state of the art of the

advanced approaches in ZT optimisation. Finally, this manuscript summarises the research

status of Bi2Te3-based semiconductors and other compound materials as potential materials for

TE generators working at low operating temperatures. The improved TE materials suggest that

TE power-generation technology is essential for sustainable power generation at near-room

temperature to satisfy the requirement for reliable energy supplies in low-power

electrical/electronics systems. (Zulkepli, Yunas, Mohamed, & Hamzah (2021))
