The Art of Making a Difference: UNIQLO's Empowerment Initiative

Working for an organization that is concerned with making society a better


place rather than just making money is a great place to work. Employees, like those
at UNIQLO, can take the initiative to establish something that will allow them to
empower others. Moreover, three points in the video captured my attention:
UNIQLO's excellent method for making a difference, their development of inclusive
workplace culture, and the significance of employee cooperation in ensuring the
efficient and productive functioning of their business.
In the video, it was revealed that the employees of the retail chain UNIQLO
took the initiative to launch support programs for refugees, persons with special
needs, and environmental recycling. This is what we refer to as UNIQLO's Corporate
Social Responsibility Function. Planning and directing the various activities that
UNIQLO has for each program are done by its employees. To provide these people
a sense of independence and empowerment that they might not experience on a
daily basis, they developed several activities, such as the In-Store Shopping
Experience for children with special needs. Like in an organization, allowing people
to make decisions and take responsibility for their actions is what empowers them
and motivates them to perform better and operate more efficiently. The UNIQLO
workers therefore also desired for others to experience this sense of empowerment,
allowing them to make their own decisions and let these lead them to a better life.
Additionally, in the video, it was also discussed how UNIQLO makes sure that
their workplaces have an inclusive society for those with disabilities. To provide
opportunities for these individuals who are sometimes overlooked, they ensure that
at least 1 person with a disability is represented at every UNIQLO store. This will
encourage them to work harder as they are given a sense of empowerment to
participate in the workplace, interact with coworkers, and complete their tasks
efficiently despite their disabilities. Since UNIQLO has given these individuals a
chance to demonstrate their abilities and collaborate with the other employees, this
initiative is very excellent.
Furthermore, UNIQLO employees make sure they are able to recognize any
potential problems immediately. To avoid these problems from occurring, they
collaborate to create appropriate solutions. Watching your employees interact and
work together to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of the organization's
business operations is undoubtedly an amazing example of teamwork. Every
organization can benefit from having employees who take initiative and are engaged
in the various facets of the company, as they will be the ones to lead and drive the
company to success.
Overall, I realized that working as an organization is about much more than
simply numbers and sales; it is also about empowering others and making their lives
better. I also intend to use this knowledge to share with my coworkers and give them
ideas on how we can improve our organization while also giving back to the
community, especially those who are in need, as a future business professional. In
my future career, we will unite and take initiative as one organization to make a
difference.
