Requirements

 Computer/Laptop (Microphone is not necessary)

 Stable internet connection. If possible, use a wired connection. If using
wireless connection, please ensure that you sit at a place where you have
good and stable wifi reception.
 TU Chemnitz Student ID card (Please upload a copy of your ID to the OPAL
folder – “Upload Student IDs here” before 20.July.2021 23:59 CEST. On the
exam day, only if required, the proctor might ask you to show the ID to the
camera.)
 Few blank sheets to work on calculations or for rough work.
 A scientific calculator. One can also use the PC/laptop calculator.
 Browser, preferably Mozilla Firefox or Chrome.
 An external camera. The Proctoring/invigilation would be done through the
camera and BigBlueButton (link would be shared on Wednesday 21.July.2021
for the students who have registered in the exam group and uploaded their IDs
to OPAL).
The cameras embedded in your laptops are not allowed. A very simple
solution is to use a smartphone. Join the communicated BigBlueButton link
through your smart phone. Do ensure that your phone does not switch
off/sleep due to few minutes of inactivity. You have to be visible during the
entire exam.
OR
If you have a camera that is not embedded in your laptop/desktop, but
connected to it and can be moved around, then you can join the
BigBlueButton link through your desktop/laptop itself.

Please setup/place your camera as shown in the graphic below. However,

only the proctor can see you. Other students in the same BigBlueButton room
as yours cannot see you and vice versa. During the exam, sit so that your
hands and the door are visible. If necessary, you will be asked by the
invigilator to perform a panning shot of the room to ensure that you are alone.

 Make sure that all equipments are charged or the charging cables are plugged
in.
Rules and Regulations
 Sit alone in a closed room (no shared kitchen, canteen, balcony etc.)
 Any communication whether verbal/sign language/electronic with other
persons is forbidden. In case of such communications, the proctor will end
your exam with a grade 5 (not passed).
 Ensure a quiet and trouble-free working environment.
 This is an open book exam. You are permitted to use
materials/books/documents whether digital or handwritten. The restrictions are
that the online or electronic documents CANNOT be opened in a separate
device. For example, if you are using a laptop/desktop for participating in the
online exam, you can open digital/electronic documents on this device.
However, you CANNOT use a separate device like your mobile
phone/tablet/other desktop/other laptop for opening electronic/digital
documents.
 As mentioned before, you will be communicated on Wednesday 21.July.2021
about the BigBlueButton link to join in for the exam. In order to receive the link,
you should be registered in TUC exam course (see mail for details and should
have uploaded your ID to OPAL folder -- Upload Student IDs here before
20.July.2021 23:59 CEST).
 After you click on BigBlueButton link, please provide your full name.
 You will be waiting until the proctor will let you in. It will be ensured from our
end that the online exam is NOT started while there are students still
waiting to join the BigBlueButton room.
 Once you are in the BigBlueButton room, only if needed, the proctor might ask
you to show your ID to the camera or perform a panning shot of the room to
ensure that you are alone. If changes to the camera setup is needed, the
proctor will let you know.
 Since there would be other students joining the same BigBlueButton room as
yours, please start the process of joining in at least 09:10 AM CEST itself on
the day of exam.
 Joining in late would delay your own exam. The exam is scheduled to start at
09:30 AM CEST sharp and you will lose precious time.
 Any questions during the exam can be communicated to your proctor as
shown below. They will get back to you. Note: You cannot talk with the
proctor. Only private chat is possible.
What to do after I join the BigBlueButton?
1) Log into: https://maxexam.tu-chemnitz.de/opal/auth/RepositoryEntry/107249686
I recommend to bookmark/save this link.
2) Shortly before the exam starts, you will see the below screen, where the Exam
DSES node becomes visible. The proctor will inform you about the visibility of this
node. Then, simply refresh your page and you will see the Exam DSES.

3) Click on Exam DSES. The following screen appears.

4) The Proctor will inform you when to click on Start test. I recommend not to click
on it before the proctor informs.
5) After the proctor informs to click on Start test, please do the same and you will be
shown this screen below. Once you are here, DO NOT CLOSE THIS WINDOW OR
REFRESH THE WEB PAGE. If you do, the exam ends for you.

6) You cannot start the exam yourself (as in the mock exam). The exam would be
centrally started to all students at once. After a couple of seconds, the above
window will automatically refresh and you will see the questions on your
screen.
7) Do remember, exam is only for 90 minutes. After this time, the exam
automatically closes. All your answered tasks would be automatically saved.

Can i verify my camera setup before hand?

Yes of course. Go to this link: https://webroom.hrz.tu-chemnitz.de/gl

What to do if i have questions during the exam?

Start a private chat with your proctor as shown below. Type in/copy paste the
complete question and your query. Continue answering other questions. The proctor
will then get back to you.

What to do if i encounter a network problem and i lose connection with exam?

Better to avoid this by sitting in a place where you have a good wifi reception. If you
have a wired connection, it is much safer (however, it is not mandatory).
If you anyways have problems and lose connection, join in to the same
BigBlueButton link as you did before and let the proctor know. He will then get back
to you. As a secondary contact mechanism, you can drop a mail to:
dharshan.krishna-murthy@s2013.tu-chemnitz.de
Please note that, we can accommodate/compensate temporary network issues.
However, if the duration of interruption is very long, unfortunately, we cannot
provide any help/assistance. All the very best.
