I. BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY
Online learning is a new normal because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The academic
performance of the student may decrease due to the lack of internet connection, gadgets and
other reasons. Closing of school affect students because of disruption of teacher and students’
networks, leading to poor performance. Schools and colleges are moving towards educational
technologies for student learning to avoid a strain during the pandemic season. Hence, the
present study’s objective is to develop and test a conceptual model of student’s satisfaction
pertaining to online teaching during COVID-19, where both students and teachers have no other
option than to use the online platform uninterrupted learning and teaching. The transition to
online learning has implications not only for teachers, who need to change their courses but
also for students, who need to adapt to the new learning environment. Educators and parents
are taking notice and many are considering whether the shift to online education will lead to
lasting changes for students who move out of the classroom. One of the most important
consequences of the transition to online learning is its impact in academic performance. Online
learning for children improves student accessibility. Students must be organized, self-motivated,
and have a high level of time management to participate in an online program. Online learning
methods can be an effective alternative educational medium for mature and self-disciplined
pupils but are unsuitable for learning environments that depend on the learner. The main benefit
learning situations, where distance learning makes it difficult or impossible to learn on the
ground. It is essential for teachers to keep their online lessons clear, engaging, and interactive
so that students can concentrate on the lessons. Students' commitment to time is often
misinterpreted as meaning that online courses require less time and effort than traditional

III. SIGNIFICANCE OF THE STUDY
By doing this study, the researcher will be able to know if the online learning has
effects on the academic performance of students in Muntindilaw National High school. This
study will help to know what is the effect of online learning on academic performance of
students in Muntindilaw National High School. And also, this study helps to know on how online
learning affects the academic performance of students in Muntindilaw National High School.
IV. METHODOLOGY
A. RESEARCH DESIGN
This type of research is qualitative because this study will collect the statement
of respondents. Case study was used in conducting this study. Case study is a research
methodology that will help in exploration of a phenomenon within some particular context
through various data sources. It will collect data through survey . This study will also used

The students of Muntindilaw National High School will be the respondents of this
study. There are seventeen grade 11 Students who voluntarily to answer the survey and

Online learning affects the academic performance of students by lacking the
confidence of students. They didn’t have much time to do learning tasks because
they doing household chores, they lazy, and some other reasons.
