Breast with milk Ducts

Hi, I'm Juliana from @clubedocrocheoficial on Instagram
and I'm here to share with you what I have developed.
The Breastfeeding teaching Set is used for
demonstrations by Lactation Consultants and
Breastfeeding support worker/Specialist that support
the mother-baby in the crucial moment of lactation.

I learned crochet when I was a child and always saw it as a hobby or therapy. In

2017, I decided it was time to dedicate myself to this art and started to teach and

make newborn pieces.

I started testing the breastfeeding pieces available at internet to make a gift for a

friend, and as I did not find any that I liked, I've made my own and after many tests,

I'm here with a version to teach you.

I am happy you're interested in this product.
Please, feel free to get in touch if you need any help. These are my contacts:

SKILL LEVEL:

Material: Abbreviations:
- 11g (0.39oz) - Cotton yarn - ch = chain
- Hook #D (3,25mm) - st = stitch
- 0.71oz of Poly Fill - sc = single crochet
- 1pce - Wooden ring size 2 (external Ø
- inc = increase
26.4) - dec = decrease

Tips:
1) The balls must be crocheted using Amigurumi thecnic, which means with circular rows,

marking each row with a different color.

2) When each ball is finished, leave approximately 8 inches of yarn. You will make 7ch with it

to firmly fasten the ball to the ring.

3) The hook I've used was perfect to match the correct ball diameter but it's possible you need

a bigger or a smaller hook to fit your stitch tension.

4) Test and check if you need to adapt to larger or smaller hook sizes to achieve a similar
result. (Always use sizes between C-2 and E-4).

->The sc in rows 16, 17 e 18 represents the lower contour of the breast and it

should be attached to the apron once it is filled with the fiber, creating the most

optimal anatomical shape (as picture).

APRON
In my experience, the raw cotton apron is intended for frequent use

without the need for constant washing because of its natural coloring. It is,

therefore, better than the white one.

It has adjustable ties, a front pocket, and the embroidery is applied in a

local haberdashery before attaching the crocheted breasts.

The seamstress who attends me followed the measurements indicated in

the pictures.

ASSEMBLY
1) Pin the two parts of the zipper to both the breast and the lid.
2) Join the fat, from the inner part to the breast, and sew with invisible thread

starting from the brown part to the edge. Finish by sewing the zipper.
3) Join the lid lining for the fat and start sewing from the middle to the edge,

finishing with the zipper seam.

4) Cut 7.87" pieces of the white satin cord and insert them in each of the lobules

made. Tie a double knot, burn the end so it doesn't come apart, and set it aside.

When the 15 lobules are ready, join the ends and burn them together so they don't

come loose. Insert this end in the inner part of the nipple and with the invisible

thread stitch them together so they don't come lose.

If you have any doubts about how to assemble the piece, watch the two videos

below!

BREAST WITH MAMMARY MILK DUCTS -
THE EVOLUTION by LUIZA REIS

Now I wanna share how Luiza Reis

(Instagram: @tetedecroche_) improved the

pattern giving her special touch.

Luiza, besides crocheter, is Doula and

Lactation Consultant, so she added some

details that made the difference in her work,

and accept to share it with us:

1) MONTGOMERY's TUBERCLES - with

some embroidery knots around the areola it´s

possible to represent these sebacious (oil)

glands that appears on 30-50% of pregnant

women notice Montgomery's tubercles. Their

primary function is lubricating and keeping

germs away from the breasts.

@tetedecroche_
@tetedecroche_

2) BRANCHED MAMMARY DUCTS- just

sew more lobules of the mammary gland to

the ones already in place.

Using 3-5 different Lobules sizes you'll be

able to represent it.

All rights reserved. This pattern was created by Juliana Fidélis from
@clubedocrocheoficial. Reproduction is allowed with the mention of the credits.
3) LACTIFEROUS SINUS - Just before

the nipple, the lactiferous duct enlarges to

form a lactiferous sinus (ampulla), which

serves as a reservoir for milk.

Just sew 2 pieces of the silk cord on some

ducts and it'll be ok to represent it.

Some ducts are free of the Lactiferous

sinus (white arrow), to demonstrate that not

always all of them enlarges.

@tetedecroche_

On the post beside, Luiza explains

how each part works.
