Who is Susan Hilferty?
● A world-renowned, award-winning costume designer

● Graduated with a BFA from Syracuse University
● Obtained an MFA in Theatre Design from the Yale
School of Drama
● Has designed costumes for more than 300 productions
all over the world
● Currently works as Chair of the Design for NYU
Early Life and
Education
● Born and raised in Arlington, Massachusets
● Had no TV, and would read books for
entertainment
● By the time she was 12, she designed all her
own clothes
● Taking a semester abroad in London taught
her that her calling was for Theatre Design
● Worked as a freelance costume designer
before going to Yale for her MFA
