Gauge- 13sc x16 rows = 4"x 4" ( 3.25 sc x 4 rows = 1" x 1" ) on size H8 5.00mm
crochet hook. Please be sure to check your gauge.
Materials- Vannas choice yarn, in colors "duckie" and "chocolate" 1 skein each
color, 170yds(156m)each, medium worsted weight #4 yarn. ( For Lion tail ) You will
also need, 1 skein Lionbrand Fun Fur, eyelash yarn (novelty weight), in color
"chocolate" #320 ,64yds(58m)each. (See additional materials list under making
Bonnet and Wristlets)

Darning needle.
3mos- Waist 16", total rise 13 1/2", crotch width 3 1/2", leg openings with/without
stretch (7"- 9")
6mos- Waist 18", total rise 15 1/2", crotch width 4", leg openings with/without
stretch ( 9"-11")
9 -12mos- Waist 19 1/2", total rise 16 1/2", crotch width 4", leg opeings
with/without stretch ( 10"-11")
Note: Top ribbing around waist will measure approx 2" less when unstretched.
Will have plenty of stretch.
Abbreviations-

(RS)- right side
BLO- (Back loop only) make your stitches by working into the back loop of each
stitch only.
Note: Smallest size is given with larger sizes in (parenthesis). When only one size is
given it applies to all. Size specific instructions will be given separately.
Diaper Cover
To begin:
Ribbed Band- Note: a ch1 turning ch is used at the end of every row, this does not
count as a stitch.
Row 1- ch 5, 1sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1sc into each ch across, turn, ch1. = 4sts
rows 2- 46,( 52, 58, 62 ) Working in (BLO) for every row, 1sc into each sc, turn ch1,
repeat for every row.
At the end of row 46,(52,58,62) ribbed band should measure 12", 14", 16", 17 1/2")
long with lots of stretch to 14",(16",18, 19 1/2"). To join, form a circle and working
through both layers of stitch, make a Slst into each st across to join. turn seam to
the inside. Place seam to right hand side. You may leave working yarn attached.

To Make bottom section of cover -
rnd 1- Beginning at side seam on (RS) ch1, make 46,( 52, 58, 62)sc into the side of
your ribbed band all the way around, join last sc to 1st sc with a Slst, ch1, turn to
(WS) of work.
Rnds 2- 12, (12, 14, 14) 1sc into each sc of the previous rnd, ch1, turn. repeat for
every row, turning back and forth from (RS) to (WS) for every row. Ending on a (WS)
row.
At the end of row 12, (12, 14, 14) piece should measure 4",(4", 4 1/2", 4 1/2") high
from beginning including ribbing. Starting at seam, place markers for dividing front
and back stitches.
23/23, (26/26, 29/29, 31/31) sts front and back. You will begin working stitches only
for Back first. You may leave working yarn attached for back.
Back -
Note: (All decreases are made with a sc2tog)
You will be starting at 1st marker where you left off.
(For Newborn size )- rows 13- 21 - Working in sc for every row , dec 1 stitch EACH
end, EVERY row 7x, then work 2 rows even in sc. = 9sts. Piece should measure 6
1/4" at the end of row 21. Fasten off.
(For size 3mos )- rows 13- 23- Working in sc for every row, dec 1 stitch Each end,
EVERY row 7x, then work 4 rows even in sc. = 12sts. Piece should measure 6 3/4" at
the end of row 23. Fasten off.
(For size 6mos)- rows 15- 27 - Working in sc for every row, dec 1 stitch EACH end,
EVERY row 8x, then work 4 rows even in sc. = 13sts. Piece should measure 7 3/4" at
the end of row 27. Fasten off.
(For size 9 -12mos) rows 15- 29 Working in sc for every row, dec 1 stitch EACH end,
Every row 9x, then work 6 rows even in sc. = 13sts. Piece should measure 8 1/4" at
the end of row 29. Fasten off.
Front

To begin lower half of front, join new yarn at marker on (RS) with a Slst in 1st space.
(For Newborn size )- rows 13- 21 - For 1st row, Slst across first 7sts, 1sc into each
sc across to last 7 sts, Miss last 7sts, turn, ch1. = 9sts. Work all remaining rows back
and forth, even in sc until the end of row 21. At the end of row 21, piece should
measure 6 1/4" high from beg edge. Leave working yarn tail attached for seaming
crotch stitches.
(For size 3mos )- rows 13- 23- For 1st row, Slst across first 7sts, 1sc into each sc
across to last 7 sts, MISS last 7sts, turn, ch1. = 12sts. Work all remaining rows back
and forth in sc until the end of row 23. At the end of row 23, piece should measure 6
3/4" high from beg edge. Leave working yarn tail attached for seaming crotch
stitches.
(For size 6mos )- rows 15- 27 - For 1st row, Slst across first 8sts, 1sc into each sc
across to last 8 sts, MISS last 9sts, turn, ch1. = 13sts. Work all remaining rows back
and forth in sc until the end of row 27. At the end of row 27, piece should measure 7
3/4" high from beg edge.Leave working yarn tail attached for seaming crotch
stitches.
(For size 9 -12mos ) rows 15- 29 - For first row, Slst across first 9sts, 1sc into each
sc across to last 9sts, MISS last 9sts, turn, ch1. = 13sts. Work all remaining rows back
and forth in sc until the end of row 29. At the end of row 29, piece should measure 8
1/4" from beg edge. Leave working yarn tail attached for seaming crotch stitches.
Finishing- Seam
When all pieces measure the required length, using working yarn tail, turn piece to
(WS) draw yarn tail through 1st stitch and working through both layers of stitches
make a sc into each 9,(12, 13, 13sts) across. Then fasten off.
Leg Opening Edging- For each leg opening, join new yarn "yellow" at
seam, on (RS) of piece, make, 25,( 29, 35, 39 )sc around leg openings, join rnd with a
Slst, then fasten off.

To Make Tail-
rnd 1- Beginning with color yellow, ch2, make 7sc into 2nd ch from hook, join last sc
to 1st sc with a Slst for this rnd. Place marker here for begining of spiral rnds. Pull
yarn tail to close hole. Tail will be about the size of a thimble around, just large
enough to place your finger into while working.
rnds 2- 28 1sc into each sc of the previous rnd, move up marker, repeat for each
rnd. Until piece measures approx. 7" long at the end of rnd 28. Fasten off yellow
,leaving a 12" tail for sewing to back of diaper cover.
To Make Tail end- Cut 7 strands each of Brown eyelash yarn and worsted
weight yarn in brown into 5" long pieces. Fold all pieces of yarn in half around your
finger forming a large loop. Then, using crochet hook, draw loop through the closed
end of your tail just enough to pass cut ends of yarn through. pass all ends through
and pull tight to fasten slip knot.
Sew open top end of tail around all 7sts to back of diaper cover center approx. 2
1/2", (2 1/2", 3", 3" )down from top edge.

To Make Bonnet and Anklets/Wristlets

Materials- Vannas choice yarn, in colors yellow "duckie" and brown "chocolate" 1
skein each color, 170yds(156m)each, medium worsted weight #4 yarn. ( For Lion tail
) You will also need, 1 skein Lionbrand Fun Fur, eyelash yarn (novelty weight), in
color "chocolate" #320 ,64yds(58m)each. (Note: For size Newborn only)- You should
have enough yarn left over from diaper cover for making all pieces. )
Bonnet Sizes/Measurements-
Size- Newborn, (3mos, 6mos ,9-12mos) - Hat height 6 1/2", ( 7 1/2", 8", 8 1/2")
depth 5 1/2",( 6 1/2', 7", 7 1/2"), Top edge around face tie to tie measures 11",(
13", 14", 15"). Lower edge around back of neck measures 9",( 11", 12", 13"). Ties
measure 10" long.
To Begin - Note: a ch1 turning ch is used for every row, this does not count as
a stitch.
row 1- Beginning with color "yellow", ch 41,( 47, 49, 53 ) 1sc into 2nd ch from hook,
1sc into each ch across, turn, ch1. = 40, (46, 48, 52)sts.
rows 2- 16,( 20, 22, 24 ) 1sc into each sc of the previous row, ch1, turn. Repeat for
each row. At the end of row 16,(20,22,24 ) piece should measure 4", (5", 5 1/2", 6" )
from beginning.
Seam back of hat- To seam back, fold piece in half (WS) facing out and using
attached yarn tail make a sc working through both layers for all stitches across.
Fasten off. Turn to (RS)

row 1- join yarn with a Slst on (RS) at 1st stitch space, 1sc into each sc across, turn,
ch1. =40, (46, 48, 52)sts
rows 2- 5 1sc into each sc of the previous row, ch1, turn. repeat for every row. at
the end of row 5 piece should measure 5 1/2",( 6 1/2", 7", 7 1/2") from beginning
edge to back of bonnet. Fasten off.
row 1- Using color yellow, ch 32, join ch with a Slst to (RS) lower edge of hat at 1st
stitch of fur trim, then make 30, (36, 40, 42)sc into each stitch across lower edge, ch
33, turn.
row 2- Working into backsides of ch, 1sc into each ch and each sc across to end. =
94,( 100,104, 106)sts. Fasten off.

4" long, fold all pieces of yarn in half together around your finger, forming a big
loop, Using crochet hook, draw this loop though the end stitches of tie, just enough
to pass the cut ends through loop. Then, pull ends to tighten slip knot. trim to
desired length. (MAKE 2 )
To Make Ears -
row 1- Using yellow yarn, ch2, make 6sc into the 2nd ch from hook, DO NOT JOIN
into a circle, turn, ch1. = 6sts
row 2- * 2sc into 1st sc, 1sc into next, repeat from * across, turn, ch1. =9sts
row 3- *2sc into 1st sc, 1sc into next 2 sts, repeat from * across, turn, ch1. = 12sts
row 5- 1sc into each sc across. Fasten off leaving a 12" tail for sewing to hat. (MAKE
2)

Attaching Ears-
Turn ears so that the right side of work curves toward the front of the hat. Sew in
place on hat using attached yarn tail to each side. Center ears approx. 2 1/2 - 3"
down from crown each side. Weave in all remaining ends.
To Make Wristlets/Anklets-
row 1- Using color yellow, ch6, 1sc into 2nd ch from hook, 1sc into each ch across,
turn, ch1.= 5sts
rows 2- 19,(19,23,23 ) Working in (Back Loops only ) for every row, 1sc into each sc
across, turn, ch1, repeat for every row. At the end of row 19,( 19, 23, 23) bring ends
together and working through both layers make a Slst across all stitches to seam.
Fasten off. Turn seam to (WS).
Fur trim- Using both colors" brown eyelash" and "brown" worsted weight yarn at
the same time, join yarn on (RS) working into side edge of ribbing. Make 20,(

20,24,24)sc around top edge, fasten off. Weave in any remaining ends. Can be worn
on either wrist or ankle.
