Questions for Reflections

1. How did society shape science and how did science shape society?

Almost everything that we do is affected by what is acceptable in society. We follow the norms
that the society depicts and it determines the way we think and see the world. A good example
of this is religion. In the early centuries, religion as played a big role in several nations. It has
become their standard of hierarchy and source of beliefs. This has prevented the curious minds
of several scientists. It has stopped them from pursuing such creative and extraordinary
discoveries because they were being judged or provoked by society itself. However, this was not
the end point. As they say, we humans are very persevering creatures. We stop at nothing just
to get what we want and satisfy our selves and that is exactly what the great minds that we now
know did. They may have set low profiles but in the latter was able to share their thoughts to
the world and have served great purpose in the society we now know. They have managed to
keep religion and science live harmoniously. Today, science have played a huge part in our
society. It helps us do our daily tasks with ease, it provides knowledge that we use on a day-to-
day basis, it keeps us connected with each other, and so much more. We can definitely say that
science is our society

2. Considering the current state of our society, how does science literacy among people
contributed to the growth of our economy?

Yes, science literacy among people has contributed to the growth of our economy Progress in
information emerges from logical development. A society with science literate individuals is a society
that thrives and continue to develop. Science literacy has contributed to the growth of a society
throughout history. This could be clearly seen as even when we named certain time periods in history,
we would soften define it by the scientific breakthroughs and innovation that happened alongside with
it (industrial age, scientific revolution).
