RESOLUTION
AN ACT OF IMPULSE
Clara left to visit the
covenant and left a letter
for Torres that she has
something to attend to have
breakfast with the sister on
the covenant. On hearing in
the news. On the tv.

The reporter said there were

students from a far off town
and joined by office workers
towards the city. Sister
Luisa asked why she wasn't
covering this. Before Clara
can answer, Mother Superior
came in and wished to have a
chat with her.
Clara followed Mother Superior to
her office and drank Chinese tea,
and Told the story of Charlie the
time he opened his store late. The
residents were worried something
bad might happen to him. Charlie
dressed up and left to see baby
Clara forgetting to leave a note
on why he will open his store
late.
A lady went up to the store to
buy her breakfast and saw the
store was closed. She waited
another hour. Yet the store is
still closed and soon more
customers came. Another hour has
passed and the store did not
open.

Until the land lady came and

opened the door and a resident
saw Charlie in the street,
Everyone was relieved that he
was ok. Charlie continued with
his day.
The next is during Clara’s
adoption, a couple visits
and checks if they can find
the right child for them
because they are not
successful in finding one.
Until they saw Baby Clara,
Sister Socorro takes their
details and sends someone to
investigate the couple, the
couple have a good
background.
Mother superior told it to Charlie, he
asked if on when is their return. She
replied Saturday and Charlie asked more
about them. Mother Superior told him
wonderful things about the couple.
Charlie asked if he can see the child
one last time, and a sister gave her to
him in a waiting room. He left lonely
and cant sleep properly during the
night.
The next day he saw Consuelo doing her
chores. He wanted to talk to her but
stopped himself because he promised never
talked about the child. The next night he
couldn't sleep and thought to himself
that Clara would be safe with her new
family.
But all faded he found himself in an
impulse to stop her adoption. On
Saturday, Charlie left and did not forget
to leave a note to why he will open his
store late. Charlie arrived and talked to
Mother Superior.
He reasoned with Mother Superior
about Consuelo and the child, After
all of that Mother Superior told the
couple that the mother changed her
mind. After the Mother Superior
story. Clara asked more about if he
knew about her. Mother Superior told
her he knew about her and that he
never tired hearing about her. Clara
continued listen to Mother
Superior’s tales
WAITING FOR RAIN
The first drops that landed on her face. She smiled in
the dark, They pitter-pattered, like the plucking of
guitar strings. The rain gathered strength and fell with
greater intensity and the thin cotton nightdress she wore
was soon soaking wet but she continued to sit on the
bench, her hair in wet strands plastered against her
face. It was many years since she had stayed out in the
rain.
A few more minutes passed and the rain became a
peltering force. She uncrossed her legs and set
her feet on the ground. But before she could even
take a step, a loud bang ripped through the air,
reverberated, and was followed by another. Her
heart pounded so hard and loud she thought it
would burst from her chest.
She screamed. But her scream
went unheard, for just then it
thundered. The figure fell to
the ground, splashing mud on
her legs.

A flash of lightning followed,

so that for a brief moment she
saw the figure in the water
with its pale face, its hands
clutching the wet soil. She
ran through the rain.
THE PROTEST MARCH
With A thousand of marchers
from many different
universities in the North
Diversion Road, they had
converged in front of a small
church, holding their torches,
they waved their many-colored
banners, raised their fists
and even sang to be heard.
Luis Bayani can be seen on the
Remedios Street with the third
group of marchers. Now the
amount of marchers has
quadrupled joining one by one.
While they were on the move,
sadly, a few others were too.
Two lorries (a large, heavy motor
vehicle for transporting goods or
troops; a truck.) have arrived in
Santiago Avenue. While the two
lorries waited, a green van turned
into the Amelia Gonzaga Street, and
again, sit back and waited as well.
At five past twelve, the three
vehicles have left and approached
the camp.

The lead lorry came to a grinding

halt, while the second lorry began
to move clockwise in a hundred and
eighty degree turn. The officer in
the front gate ordered to dismantle
it. The students finally came in,
with the sound of singing from
different directions.
Now looking at the platform,
we can see Father Salcedo (a
Jesuit) watching Luis Bayani
as he walks into the stage.
The man with the green t-shirt
from one the vans we were
talking about earlier made his
way to the front of the crowd,
while Luis Bayani made
history.

He asked for five minutes of

silence as a way of
remembering their dead, and
called out the names of the
fallen. A loud explosion cut
through air, The student
leader tried to say that
they’ve been set up. And then,
fighting broke out.
The man in the green t-
shirt threw two grenades
in a row, causing the
death of eight soldiers,
sixteen wounded. The
priest tried to reach
Sophia Ramos, but
unfortunately couldn’t.
Sophia Ramos is now in
custody by unidentified
men.
While Luis Bayani struggled with his attackers,
Bulldog, the loyola soccer team captain flung his
bulk at the men pinning Bayani down. Struggling to
stand, Luis heard Laslo telling him to jump, and
Luis Bayani disappeared into the crowd, nowhere in
sight anymore. And that is how he became the
object of the nation’s largest manhunt.
Too Late for Misgivings
El presidente's chief
of staff delivered the
news of the grenade
attack on campo diaz to
his boss with a
straight face and a
quick nod.

El president asked him

if the defense minister
knew with an
undisguised face. and
the defense minister
too the chief of staff
weighed this piece of
information.
Something about the nature of
their plan was not right or
out of the ordinary with the
defense minister. then it came
to him slowly and carefully,
how foolish he had not seen it
coming before.
El presidente rose from his
seat and stood in front of the
chief of staff, giving him an
angry look, then El presidente
accused the chief of staff of
questioning his decision.
The chief of staff
argued about how they
have achieved nothing
with violence.

El Presidente exploded
with anger, while the
chief of staff assumed
that Aure’s plan wasn't
very well thought out.
El Presidente asked him if
he was questioning Aure’s
plans. He denied it although
he had never hid from him,
his personal dislike of the
man, he is aware of his
abilities.

He does not care for his

actions but he recognize he
has done much to control the
situation down south. El
prisedente settled on an
armchair by the window, all
the while the chief of staff
feared that his nature is
dangerous to them.
A Mission for Laslo
Laslo had been in the detention
center at Campo Diaz. He knew it
would take him to one of He
glanced back at the detention
center. He had been afraid to
leave Sophia but he had had no
choice in the matter.

He had grown weary with the round

of questioning over and over. And
now, with the grenade blast, the
whole situation had taken on a
seriousness he had not expected.
He did not question why he
had been brought here this
time instead of being
returned to the big room to
join the others. In a
whisper so soft he only just
made out her words, she
said, said that she did not
want to die. The man turned
to go but not before he gave
Laslo a scornful look. Laslo
must find Luis.

The man pointed at Laslo and told him not to just stand
there. Lost in the unreality of this world, Laslo found
himself doing as the man ordered. The old man pointed
at a spot in front of Laslo. The ridiculousness of it
all hit Laslo. He looked wide-eyed as the old man
stooped down to swoop up a crushed aluminum can,
letting out a triumphant cry as he threw this into his
plastic container.

He did not have to yield to the old man, agree to play

his stupid games. He hung on to it. He turned it in his
hand, then threw it back on the pile. He picked this up
and looked at it, then he looked up and caught the
woman looking at it, too. Laslo apologized without
looking at the man, he was in a hurry to find the old
man.
Luis Bayani studying him with a
hint of a smile in his eyes was
the most welcome sight Laslo
had seen on this, the longest
day of his life. Luis told him
that he was always there. Then,
motioning to Laslo to follow
him, Luis Bayani made his way
down the mountain.

The old man nodded; then

pointing to a pail of water, he
told them to wash. To old man
Serio, whom he calls the
Philosopher of the Mount. They
kept to the shadows, away from
the moonlit paths. The farther
away they moved from the slums,
the greater the danger grew.
Laslo and Luis agreed to walk
together but both knowing it
would be soon with the moment
of parting. Luis explained
that Luis would turn left two
streets before the main road
and Laslo would take the
opposite direction. Thirty
meters from the main road,
half a dozen figures emerged
from the shadows.
Before he could call to
Laslo, Bayani found himself
thrown to the ground and two
men holding on to either side
of him while a third came at
him with a rocklike fist.
Before the third man could
come again at him, Laslo
raised his leg and put all
the force he could muster
behind it.

It was the man who had

accompanied him to Smoky
Mountain. Then a light in an
upstairs window went on. The
attackers hesitated long
enough for their captives to
break free.
Laslo yelled at Luis to run. He
shouted as loud as he could while
Luis running across the main
street, and before his pursuers
could follow, a bus blocked their
way. He ran as though chased by
the devil and knew not in which
direction he was heading. He
glanced over his shoulder and saw
that they were near.
Just as he made up his mind not
to look back again, he heard a
loud bang, until he felt the
sudden, searing pain in his
shoulder, did he realize a bullet
had found him. The pain grew
worse. Then another loud bang
went off and this time a similar
pain shot through his leg.
Luis knew he was losing
precious time but the pain in
his leg had taken hold. Then
suddenly his foot caught at
the edge of a crack and the
world around him began to spin
and he saw the ground come up
to meet him. The last things
he remembered were the shape
of a woman standing somewhere
before him, then his pain
finally claimed him and all
was as black as night.
The Longest Night
So it was that Luis Bayani
came into her life. But
she didn’t know who he was
then. All she knew was
that they needed to get
him to safety, to hide him
in the convent.

They carried him in the

rain. In the weak light of
that wet night, she
glimpsed his face as he
passed in and out of the
shadows. It was pale, like
death, and she feared that
they were carrying his
lifeless body.

She looked through it hoping to
find something to identify him.
There she found his wet and
crumpled cedula. As she read it,
Mother superior told Sister Luisa
to call for an ambulance. She
looked up at that moment to tell
her to not do so as he must stay
here. But the man is slowly dying
and they couldn’t bring him to the
hospital as there may be people
looking for him there.
They worked through the next 2
hours. The nuns with their
first-aid knowledge and
emergency supplies, and Clara
with her forced courage, for
she hated the sight of blood no
matter how many times she’s
seen it before.

As she sat there waiting for

the night, she planned what to
do in the morning, if there was
anything she could be certain
of in those very uncertain
moments, it was the coming of
Luis Bayani had somehow
determined the path she was to
travel in life.
Laslo too would have memories of that night to last
him a lifetime. On being brought back to the center
very late that night, Laslo demanded to use the
phone, but it was ignored. He was immediately led
away into the building. Down where there were no
windows. And where the wall were sound-proof where
you could scream all you want and no one would hear
it. Laslo heard the door open. He rose from his
chair, expecting to see one of his interrogators.
But the man who entered was a stranger. The
stranger's name was Aure, Colonel Aure.
The colonel see’s that Laslo
doesn’t know of him. The
colonel then noticed that the
music had stopped, and asked
Laslo if he liked it. Laslo
nodded in confusion.

The music was made by

And each recognized
the others fear.
The Colonel then introduced himself to Sophia. Sophia
recognized him as The Butcher of the south. The colonel was
pleased as Sophia knew of him and denied that he was a
butcher but instead an artist. Laslo then told him to stop
and that the colonel does not have the right to detain them.
The colonel then said that there are places where rights do
not matter. And shouting achieves nothing. Looking at Sophia,
he said to her that Laslo was right and that they should not
waste time and asked Sophia If she knows where Luis Bayani
is.
The colonel waited. When no
reply came, the men in the room
moved towards them. Laslo
shouted but the men did not back
off, as he struggled to keep the
men away from Sophia. 2 men
grabbed him and strapped him to
his chair.

The others went for Sophia. And

the nightmare began. The Colonel
then asked Laslo to watch it and
observe human nature as he has
seen it many times in other
circumstances.
And that it makes for
an interesting study.
And so the colonel went
on as his men continued
with their business and
the room began to fill
with the smell of swea
and blood.
When at last the men finished
with Sophia, the colonel rose
from his seat. And whispered
in her ear. And asked Sophia
what her desire is and if she
wanted to live. Laslo tried to
speak. The colonel glanced at
him then asked again what her
desire is.

Her words came softly saying

that she doesn’t want to die.
And the colonel said that she
is no longer perfect and that
she can’t live anymore. Lying
on the floor, unable to help
Sophia, Laslo watched the
colonel’s hands at work.
Gently, he gathered Her hair away from her
face, the colonel parted her long hair in
equal parts, on either side of her head.
Then he carefully twined the 2 sections
around her neck, making them cross and
cross again, pulling tighter each time,
for the colonel pulled the ends of her
hair, pulled them so tight that Sophia’s
eye widened and her body went rigid before
slowly letting go, letting go of life, as
the music died.
Unexpected Visitors
Luis Bayani, on waking, caused his
wound to bleed again, as they battled
to stop it Luis kept his eyes shut
and became paler. Then suddenly a
novice said that there were five or
six man outside. Then Mother superior
ordered Clara to move Luis and the
novice said that Clara should change
since there's blood on her clothes.
Then she tried to remove every trace
of Luis being there then sister Luisa
gave the clothes to her while Mother Optional:

the men finally left after a while.
Clara, asked her father Don Pellicer a
favor even with second thought helping
the bloody man, the Don left with no
choice but to look for a doctor, to
give way for Clara. When the doctor
arrived, Clara help him to assist the
patient, Luis.

After surgery, the doctor said the

After the doctor and don left the
scene, she told The Chronicle that
she will be absent for a few days,
for personal matters. When Luis is
finally awake but is still weak,
Clara began to explain what happened
to them. Since Luis is still weak
from what had happened, Clara
accompanied him. Then they started
to build a bond while they were
talking about Clara’s life and how
Luis formed the YRM (Youth for
Reform Movement).
According to him, when he went to the
sacadas, to live and work there, he saw how
poverty was much worst than the city, so he
decided to form a group which is YRM to
change things up and to also help the farmers
working in the hacienda. Clara asked which
hacienda they worked for and Luis said that
it is the don hacienda the one who help them,
Clara just nodded and he asked if he knows
the don, She said that that is her father.
Clara explained her strange story about her
father and mother, later on she became
comfortable enough to share her history to
Luis.
After a few days Luis can walk
without support but is still
fragile. He decided that day
that he will leave the convent
because he stayed too long than
expected. Clara and the nun
tried to stop him but Luis
decided to leave.

Although they were against it,

they couldn’t do anything,
instead, Clara gave Luis some
of her money, for she thinks
that it is the best thing she
could do.
Revenge of the Ice
Princess
The unexplained disappearance of the loyola student
Sophia Ramos. If there was truth to it as is often the
case with rumors involving the government then the
current administration was indeed on shaky ground. One
that betrayed the desperate state of mind of the man
in the palace.

But just because The Senator Sixto knew these tales

and just because he was a former loyolan did not mean
he had to go charging to the palace and confronting El
presidente with the business of the missing student.
The photographer informed him in
his whining voice that ana had
never arrived. The prospect of
going outside so soon did not
appeal to him either. It was hot as
hell out there. There had been a
sudden torrential downpour the
night before, but the morning had
brought only more burning heat. If
ana was in the shower, where the
hell was the maid? The senator
reached for his wallet and took out
the key. The moment he pushed the
door open he knew something was
amiss.
The senator, eyes narrowing dangerously, walked
to stand in front of his wife asking where is
Lorena and what have he done to her. Lorena
gave him a lazy smile before turning toward the
stairs. Here she paused for a second saying she
don't know and that the at that time she saw
his mistress was when she was screaming in
pain.
