Accomplishment Report

I. Title of the Project: Project READ

(Reading Enhancement during Adversities and Dilemma)

II. Rationale:
This school year has been marked as the second year of Covid- 19 Pandemic
which had still burdened the education system from its normalcy. Teachers and School
Heads had learned new things to better the delivery of learning to its stakeholders while
ensuring the teaching and learning continuity, looking for the health, safety, and well-
being of everybody in the system. The Department of Education has implemented
DepEd Order No.012, s.2020 entitled “Adoption of the Basic Education Learning
Continuity Operational Plan (BE-LCOP) for School Year 2021 in Light of the COVID- 19
Pandemic”.
Camba High School is one with the SDO Pampanga’s project on promoting literacy
which is entitled the 4 B’s (Bawat Bata Bumabasa sa Bagong Normal). A proposition
that will upskill and improve the reading capabilities of every student in the division.
Project READ (Reading Enhancement amidst Adversities and Dilemma) is a
reading intervention of the school that aims to develop the level of reading skills of
Camba High School Students using integrated reading materials from different subject
areas.
Project READ is a reading intervention program that aims to develop the level of
reading skills of the Camba High School Students using appropriate reading materials
suited for their age and reading skill level. It is a strategy wherein students are given
the reading material; teacher conducts class reading and then one- on- one tutorials
during remedial sessions. Then, parents will assist the learners in reading at home.
Improving the reading skills is essential to achieve success in life. Students who
read at high levels are more likely to stay in school. On the other hand, students who
struggle to read are more likely to struggle in other learning areas. Without significant
interventions, those students who begin school behind their peers rarely catch up later.
Despite the “Every Child A Reader Program” initiative of the Department of Education,
still, teachers are faced with several students who struggle to read with understanding
at their grade level. This is the reason why DepEd remains steadfast in strengthening
this initiative by mandating all schools, school divisions, and regions to develop
interventions to address these reading issues.
