early and severe due to their location in high risk environments. Discuss why indigenous
knowledge is key to global climate change policy and also comment on the efforts made to bridge
traditional knowledge and climate science.
2. In the light of the global health challenges, analyse the relationship between health and economic
growth, trade, innovation, global security and global governance.
3. Do you think increasing the budget allocation for the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana
(PMFBY) will help the farmers? Critically examine challenges facing the scheme and solutions
needed to address these challenges.
4. Does conducting simultaneous elections to assemblies and parliament ensure consistency,
continuity and governance, which are integral to democracy? Examine the challenges involved in
conducting such simultaneous elections.
5. Recently announced National Health Protection scheme is being touted as the world's largest
health protection scheme. Discuss the challenges in implementation of this scheme.
6. The Central government has proposed changes to various provisions of the Prevention of Money
Laundering Act (PMLA) through the Finance Bill. Examine these amendments and also evaluate
the efficacy of previous measures in preventing money laundering.
7. “The first principal of non-violent action is that of non-cooperation with everything humiliating.”
What do you understand by Gandhiji’s statement? Discuss its relevance today.
8. Discuss the significance of the Aundh Experiment.
9. The de-urbanization of the manufacturing sector during the last decade has been much steeper in
the organized sector compared to the unorganized sector. Examine why.
10. How is India’s Aadhaar different from America’s Social Security Number (SSN)? How does
Aadhaar will help in better implementation of welfare schemes and administration of subsidies?

11. Comment on the existing policy of resolving inter-state river water disputes in India and
comment on the significance of the Inter-State River Water Disputes (Amendment) Bill 2017.

13. India’s rapidly expanding poultry industry has become a breeding ground for antibiotic-resistant
superbugs that pose one of humanity’s most serious health threats. Comment.
14. Indian cities are growing at rapid rates but without regard to quality of civic life and regard for
lives of urban poor. What approaches would you suggest to revitalise Indian cities to make them
more inclusive and enabling? Analyse.
15. The recent Economic Survey presents the first ever estimate of the number of ‘unwanted’ girls in
India at 21 million. Who are these ‘unwanted’ girls? Discuss the significance of this estimation for
policy formulation.
