1. Among all the discussed famous writers during the Spanish colonization,
who do you think reflects you as a person? Why?
Among the authors that has been discussed, I think Emilio Jacinto is the one nearest that reflect me as
a person. Just like him I have been quite an enthusiast of news and editorial writing. I have been since
middle school as I was one of the campus journalists. Before, I really wanted to do the editing of article
but then it was quite time demanding with too much technicalities so I stay in my lane. Besides that, he
was also known as eloquent and brave young man. Well, just like him, I truly work on my public speaking
skill yet I am still far from it and knowing that I am trying I think it takes bravery. In terms of military
concerns, he was regarded as the Katipunan's intellectual savant. The Katipuneros embraced his book,
Kartilya, as their manual for against the Spanish conquerors. It included the Katipunan's by laws and
constitution. One of Emilio's greatest loves was reading. We cannot truly go wrong with love for reading,
I myself I’m fond of this but the difference is I now prefer audiobooks because I am now after the delivery.
Good thing is I have built my vocabulary enough to understand books I am listening to.

2. Out of all the literary texts given during the Spanish colonization, which of
those 4 do you like the most? Why?
The last one, the story entitled Maragtas by Pedro Alcantara Montecarlo. The story was new to me but
when the question was raised on the type of literature it was, I instantly knew that it was an oral literature.
I am actually a Visayan by blood so am quite familiar with some geographic details and other historical
events in Visayas. When I have heard of it, some of the details especially when the ten Datus meet the
black islanders it seems familiar. But I know another literary account discarded because there weren’t
enough surviving accounts to prove it, but the thing it was somehow written. But compare to that, I think
this one appears more realistic to me but is confirmed to be a legend. Regardless, the story is great, I
think it has played its purpose of giving our ancestors something as ground of how people of Panay get
to where they were now. I think this story should be present more to Visayan schools, because in mine
it wasn’t.
