1. Computer and Mobile Devices
Computer: Electronic device, operating under the control of instruction stored its own
memory, that can accept data (input), process the data according to specified rules,
produce information (output), and store the information for future use.
Mobile devices: computing devices small enough to hold in your hand.

2. Mobile Computer and Desktop: Portable personal computer

• Laptop: thin, lightweight mobile computer with a screen in its lid and a
keyboard in its base.
• Tablets: smaller than laptop but larger than a phone, lighter weight mobile
computer that has a touch screen.
• Phablet: Combines feature a smartphone and a tablet.
• Handled computers: Computer small enough to fit in one hand.
• Stick computer: also referred to as a PC, is a small computer which usually is
the same size as, or a little larger than a USB flash drive.

3. Server: computer dedicated to providing one or more services to others computer or


device on a network.
• Rack server
• Blade server
• Tower server

4. Terminal: computer, usually with limited processing power, that enables user to send
data to and/or receive information from server, or host computer.
• Point of sale terminal
• ATM’s
• Self-Service Kiosk

5. Supercomputers: fastest, most powerful computer and the most expensive.


6. Cloud computing: an environment that provides resources and services accessed via the
internet.
7. Mobile Devices
• Smartphone
• Digital camera
• Portable and Digital Media Players
• E-book readers
• Wearable devices
8. Game devices: mobile computing device designed for single player or multiplayer
video games.
9. Embedded Computer: special purpose computer that functions as a component in a
larger product.
