Barack Hussein Obama II is an American politician who served as the 44th president
of the United States from 2009 to 2017. A member of the Democratic Party, Obama
was the first African-American president of the United States.

American to hold the office. Before winning the presidency, Obama represented
Illinois in the U.S. Senate (2005–08). He was the third African American to be elected

Nobel Peace Prize “for his extraordinary efforts to strengthen international diplomacy
and cooperation between peoples.”
