What are health
appraisal procedure?

Health appraisal is the process of


determining the total health status of
an individual through such means as
health histories, teacher and nurse
observations, screening tests,
medical, dental, and psychological
examinations.
This is monitored regularly to know the status of a student
like you. A formula is used to assess your body’s
condition. It is known as Body Mass Index (BMI). It is
equal to your weight in kilograms divided by the square of
your height in meters.

occurring at your age. There is a great impact on your quality
of life as a student once detected earlier. Visual problems
affect your ability to function and enjoy learning. Vision
screening is done with the use of a Snellen chart.
This is a procedure done for females to examine
physically and visually your breast and underarm areas
for any changes that may need an evaluation.
It is best to examine a few days after menstruation
when your breasts are likely tender and swollen.

may affect your performance in school. This must be a
must to all new school entrants, former students for
annual health examinations, and for all student
athletes. Regular evaluation should be done for
students with significant health and dental findings.
