representative if and when required.

Manufacturer’s recommendation for storage criteria should be followed where

applicable to avoid damage to product quality. The storage areas shall be laid out to
ensure ease of handling, retrieval and to avoid damage to materials which must be
properly stacked in accordance with manufacturer’s recommendation. The
storekeeper shall ensure that the rotation of materials is maintained to ensure that
the “first in, first out” system is observed. Routine checks shall be carried out to
ensure that this rotation is maintained.

9.0 Construction Sequence and Methodology.

9.1 Preparation before Installation
9.1.1 Ensure that all Drawings for Installation are approved & properly
coordinated with other services
9.1.2 Check if work location / area are ready for installation of piping.
9.1.2 Before starting the work, check that all safety precautions are in place.

9.2 Installation Procedure

9.2.1 Mark the pipe routing on the slab and risers / shaft.
9.2.2 Install approved anchor fasteners as per Project Specification
approved Materials submittal and Shop Drawings.
9.2.3 All pipe supports shall be done as per approved shop drawings
specified spacing and manufacturer’s recommendation.
9.2.4 Sleeve pipes passing through partitions walls and floors.
9.2.5 Pipe passing through the wall and floor slab opening shall be provided
with approved fire resistance (if needed) compound and subsequent
water proofing (by others) if required.
9.2.6 Installation should be as per manufacturer’s instructions
9.2.7 Note the manufacturer’s recommendation for the selected jointing
type.
9.2.8 Support vertical piping at every floor. Support riser piping
independently of connected horizontal piping.
9.2.9 All pipe open ends shall be plugged properly. Pipes shall be protected
during the remainder of the projects
9.2.10 Pipe shall be installed in small shafts prior to shafts dry wall are closed.

9.2.11 Minimum clearance between pipe and structural must be maintained

and pipe supports spacing as per approved Shop Drawing
9.2.12 Final Completion / Finishing of Vent Piping system like painting, pipes
tagging identification shall be coordinated to Architectural services.
9.2.13 Cast iron/Ductile iron pipes installed shall be equi-potential bonded
with earthing system. Coordinate with electrical services for
connection sequence procedure.
9.2.14 For Vent Pipes below 75mm Copper pipes to be used.
10.0 Jointing
10.1 Soldering Method (Pipe Size up to 50 mm)
10.1.1 Using a suitable brush apply the approved non corrosive type flux
adequately but not excessive to both outside of the tube and inside fitting
socket.
10.1.2 Insert the tube into the fitting until it reaches the tube stop and then wipe
off any excess flux. Heat the assembled joint evenly on all sides.
10.1.3 Apply Solder to the mouth of the fitting. When the correct temperature has
been reached the solder will flow freely and be drawn into the point. Briefly
re apply the blow torch and wipe off any excess solder.
10.1.4 Allow the joint to cool without disturbance. Clean the joint generally.
Wiping of any external flux residues. this will prevent, unsightly stains or
( in extreme cases) corrosion of pipe work. Flush out the pipe work.

10.2 Brazing Method

10.2.1 Using a suitable brush apply the approved non corrosive type flux
adequately but not excessive to both outside of the tube and inside fitting
socket.
10.2.2 Insert the tube into the fitting until it reaches the tube stop and then wipe
off any excess flux. Heat the assembled joint evenly on all sides.
10.2.3 Heat the assembled joint evenly on all sides to ( red heat in poor day light)
10.2.4 Apply the approved filler rod to the mouth of the fitting. Allowing the alloy
brazing to melt and flow into the annular gap. Allow the joint to cool with
out disturbances. Clean the joint generally and flush out the pipe work.

10.3 For pipe 75mm and above

10.3.1 Joining of hubless cast iron pipes and fittings will be done by the use
of Neoprene hubless couplings with stainless steel shield.
10.3.2 Unfasten the bolts of the coupling before fixing the pipe.

10.3.3 Place the Neoprene of the sleeve on the end of the pipe or fitting and
place the stainless steel shield on the component.
10.3.4 Insert the other pipe or fitting to the neoprene sealing sleeve and
make sure that both sides are firmly seated in the couplings.
10.3.5 Slide the stainless steel shield over the neoprene sleeve and tighten
the clamp assembly by using screwdriver until the two sided are firmly
fixed.

11.0 Inspection and Testing

11.1 After completion of the work, The Site Engineer & Supervisor who perform an
activity are required to raise an RFIA with complete attachment &
information regarding the scope of inspection, including necessary drawings
highlighted to show the scope of inspection. He shall systematically check
and inspect their work. The inspection shall be performed according to
typical checklist and approved Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) which shall also
be attached to the RFIA.

11.2 After Site Engineer & Supervisor completed their inspection and testing , RFIA
shall be submitted to QAQC Department who shall check and process the
documents to have completed work inspected by Supervision Consultant for
their approval.

11.3 After satisfactory inspection by Supervision Consultant, completed work shall

be under gravity leak test. All pipes (Vertical risers and horizontal installation)
shall be subject to gravity leak test.

11.4 Before applying the gravity test, ensure that all safety precautions are in
place.

11.5 After ensuring that safety precautions are in place, check that all pipe ends
are closed with test plugs except for water filling point.
11.6 Clean the pipes for any dust or debris on the joint surface for easy
identification of leak if there is any.

11.7 Applying /conducting gravity leak test for Vertical risers and horizontal
installation have to maintain 0.3 Bar pressure for duration of 4 hours. Additional
3 meters length of pipe should be provided on the test pipe. Repair if any leak
occurs prior for Submittal of RFIA .
