‘An idiom is essentially a common phrase with a meaning that can’t be understood
by looking at its individual words.’
They are those funny parts of our everyday speech that we use to communicate
thoughts, ideas, and feelings without referring to them literally.
It's a type of figurative language, alongside metaphors and similes.
Teacher will write few examples of everyday used idioms:
1. Piece of cake
2. Raining cats and dogs
3. Make a long story short
Teacher will ask students what could these idioms mean and write their responses on the
board.
Written Work: (15 minutes)
After few more examples students will attempt Workbook pg. no. 136 and 137 (Q2 – 3)
Plenary: (3 minutes)
Students will recheck the answers to avoid any mistakes.
