    1. Series batteries add their voltages, so 6V + 6V = 12V. Parallel batteries have the same voltage, so 12V + 12V = 12V. 2. The diagram shows resistors in series and parallel. Rt for the whole circuit is calculated by adding resistances for parts in series and calculating the equivalent for parts in parallel. Current and power are calculated using Ohm's law. 3. Changing a resistor to open or short changes the equivalent resistance of the circuit and therefore the current and power calculations based on Ohm's law.
