Reflection: Reflective Writing 6

 Reflect on the following questions:

Are you ready for the Industrial Revolution 4.0?  As a teacher, what skills should
you develop more in order not to be redundant or replaced by robots?

Industry 4.0, also known as the fourth industrial revolution, is the trend of using
automation and data to perform day-to-day tasks. It is used interchangeably and
represents a new stage in the organization and control of the industrial value chain. It
has been defined as “a name for the current trend of automation and data exchange in
manufacturing technologies, including cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things,
cloud computing and cognitive computing and creating the smart factory”.
As an educator, in order to adapt the changes and will not be redundant or replace by an
artificial intelligent machine, this could be our concern. We educator has to adapt to new
methods to follow up with the changes happening with technology. Therefore, a new
concept of teaching and being a teacher has to be considered. That is why if there is an
Industrial Revolution 4.0, we teachers should be called “Educator 4.0”.
Along with this concept, it will be usual for us teachers to stand in front of our student
thru virtual. In which is we are already observing this kind of practices. Virtual classes,
virtual meeting, wearing headphones with high-definition cameras. We teachers should
be staying informed and updated about technology, familiarizing ourselves with the
growing technology of today and what it can be in the future will also help us make
better solution. Also, we teachers are now facilitators, facilitators of learning. In order for
us to prepare our students for the Fourth Industrial Revolution, we must transition into
being facilitators of learning beyond our own personal expertise. We should allow
technology to support students’ flexibility in gaining skills and pursuing passions.
