2.Define ‘quality factor’ of resonance in series LCR circuit. What is its SI unit ?
3.What is the ratio of the velocity of the wave in the two media of
refractive indices 1 and 2 ?
4. Draw a diagram to show cylindrical wave front?
5. A transformer cannot be used to step up d.c. voltage?
6. How does the self induction of a coil change when?

(b) Explain, with the help of a suitable example, how we can show that Lenz’s law is a
consequence of the principle of conservation of energy.
8.Derive the expression of refractive index of glass prism.

9.Define a wavefront. Using Huygens’ principle, draw the shape of a

refracted wavefront, when a plane wave is incident on a convex lens.

10.Show that in the free oscillations of an LC circuit, the sum of the energies stored in the
capacitor and the inductor is constant in time?
OR

LCR circuit. maximum and minimum power.

11.A copper rod of length 1.0m is revolving with angular speed 200rad/s around one of its ends,
perpendicular to uniform magnetic field of 1.0 Wb/m2. Find the emf developed between the
two ends of revolving rod. Also prove that weber=volt-second.
12.In the following diagram, an object ‘O’ is placed 15 cm in front of a convex lens L1 of
focal length 20 cm and the final image is formed at ‘I’ at a distance of 80 cm from the
second lens L2. Find the focal length of the lens L2.

(ii) A long solenoid with 15 turns per cm has a small loop of area 2.0 cm2 placed
inside the solenoid normal to its axis. If the current carried by the solenoid
changes steadily from 2.0 A to 4.0 A in 0.1 s, what is the induced emf in the loop
while the current is changing ?
14.(i) Compare the interference pattern observed in Young’s double slit experiment
with single slit diffraction pattern, pointing out three distinguishing features.
(ii) Differentiate between ray and wavefront.
15 Sunita and her friends visited an exhibition. The policeman asked them
to pass through a metal detector. Sunita’s friends were initially scared of
it. Sunita, however, explained to them the purpose and working of the
metal detector.

metallic object walks through it ?
(c) State any two qualities which Sunita displayed while explaining
the purpose of walking through the detector.

circuit and phase angle between voltage and current. Find the condition when
current will be in phase with the voltage. What is the circuit in this condition
called ?
(ii) In a series LR circuit XL = R and power factor of the circuit is P1. When
capacitor with capacitance C such that XL = XC is put in series, the power factor
becomes P2. Calculate P1/P2.
