Verbal and non-verbal Communication
1. Section 1 and 3 guide questions:
A. What does it mean to communicate
Communication means process of sharing ideas, opinions, knowledge and facts to ensure that
your message is received and understood in a clear and targeted manner. Good
communication makes both the sender and receiver happy.
B. What are the differences between Verbal and Non-verbal communication?
Verbal communication uses language, words, sentences and sounds as means of
communication.
In other ways, Non-verbal communication uses body language, facial expressions, tone of
voice, and pauses in speaking as means of communication.
C. In what ways does communication fail? What are the different factors involved?
Communication can fail in many ways. Above all, if you cannot say or write correctly what
you want to convey to the other party, communication will not go well. Choosing the right
words, phares and pictures is of utmost importance. A critical attitude also hinders
communication.
D. How do culture and context affect communication?
The way we communicate is greatly influenced by the culture we grow up in. Many other
aspects of communication, such as the meaning of gestures, the meaning of time and place,
and the rules of human relationships, are determined by culture.

2. Section 4 reflection questions:


 Why is it important understand the difference between Verbal and Non-Verbal
communication?

 Understanding what the other person is trying to convey requires looking at many factors,
such as the speaker’s body language, facial expressions, and tone of voice. Mastering
both verbal ang non-verbal communication is critical to communicating effectively with
others.
B, Who do you find to be an effective communicator? How and why?

 Effective communicator; is someone who can communicate effectively, accept input


from others, and articulate their point. A strong communicator uses simple, direct
language and a clear, direct style when speaking. They often express their opinions
assertively, but also accept advice from other. Effective Communicators maintain eye
contact while listening and use phrases such as “I understand” and “I understand your
concerns.”

C. Who do you find requires improvement in their manner of communication? How


and why?

 Effective communication skills are fundamental to success in many aspects of life. Many
jobs require strong communication skills. People with good communication skills also
usually enjoy better interpersonal relationships with friends and family.

D. What situation have you been in where effective communication would have made a
big difference? In what ways would the results have been different?

 Useful for discussions and reports. In debates, you need to speak fluently or convey your
emotions in order to be more effective in debates and win like this. Also, when reporting,
you should be able to speak clearly so that your colleagues and the audience can
understand you.

3. Section 5 observation questions:


Observe how people communicate. Think about the clarity, and/or efficacy of:

A. What their key message is:

 Expensive vegetables, especially necessities such as onions, are very expensive and
especially poor people cannot afford anything else.

B. Who the audience is:


 The buyer and the seller on market.

C. What their goals is:

 They want to go back to their previous low can afford to buy the vegetables they need
every day.

D. What medium was used:

 Vegetables and nothing except by exchanging of words.

E. How effective the process was and why:

 They understand each other through good conversation, and more and more people want
to curse vegetables.
