METHODOLOGY

A. Materials

The following materials are needed to make organic insecticide: mahogany leaves,
ginger, and water.

To make accurate results, mortar and pestle, knife, and, mesh strainer

B. General Procedure

1. Collection of Materials

Mahogany leaves were collected from growing plants in the field. Both
mature and young leaves were gathered a day before the treatment. Gingers were bought in the
nearby market.

2. Preparations of Organic insecticide

Sweitenia macrophylla (Mahogany) and Zingeber officinale (Ginger) were washed


thoroughly to remove dirt or soil and gingers were peeled. They were cut into small pieces,
macerated using mortar and pestle. This was set aside and allowed to stand overnight.

The mixture was filled through a fine mesh strainer the following day. This served as the
stock solution.

3. Testing of Organic mahogany

100% of mahogany leaves and ginger extract was used to test the 3 cockroaches. After
spraying the extract, cockroaches became motionless, they tried hard to escape from the bottle
and some of them excreted waste.
