Note: Connect from Mainland China

You may experience an unstable VPN connection and even fail to connect from mainland China
even followed every step in this guide. In addition, you may have the same VPN configuration
works perfectly in the past but suddenly no longer works.
Specially, you may receive errors such as (but not limited to) 'Error 789' / unable to download
VPN profile / L2TP-VPN server did not respond.
In this case, you are suggested to register for VPN Add-on service as a workaround.
 

An Alternative - SSL VPN

Try SSL VPN if you encounter issues connecting to CUHK VPN and you are not connecting from
mainland China.  Refer to this article for the di"erence between CUHK VPN and SSL VPN.

:

 1. Click Settings > VPN.
    點選設定 > VPN。

2. On the right side of settings page, click Add VPN Configuration...

    在右邊的設定⾴⾯, 點選加⼊VPN設定...

3. Please configure the network details as follows:

    請根據以下設定連接 CUHK VPN。

Type: L2TP
Description: CUHK VPN
Server: vpn.cuhk.edu.hk
Account: Your CUHK email address
Password: Ask Every time
Secret: ipsec-vpn

類型: L2TP
描述: CUHK VPN
伺服器: vpn.cuhk.edu.hk
帳⼾: 中⼤電郵地址
密碼: 每次都詢問
密鑰: ipsec-vpn

Click Done to complete settings.

點選完成完成設定。

Connect to CUHK VPN

1. Click Settings > VPN.

     點選設定 > VPN。

2. On the right side of settings page, click CUHK VPN, then click toggle switch to connect
    在右邊的設定⾴⾯, 點選CUHK VPN, 然後打開切換鍵。

3. Input your CUHK email address as Account, and input your OnePass password, then
click OK.
    輸⼊你的中⼤電郵地址為帳⼾, 及輸⼊你的OnePass密碼後點選好。

4. Respond to the DUO push message.

    回應 DUO 雙重認證訊息。

5. Done.
     完成。

1. Open Duo Mobile app.  Tap Show on the right lower corner of your account. You should
see a six-digit temporary passcode displayed as shown in the example below.
開啟 Duo Mobile app，點⼀下帳⼾右下⽅的展示符號。你會看到⼀個六位數字臨時密
碼。

For hardware token user, get the six-digit temporary passcode from the token.
保安編碼器⽤⼾，請從編碼器取得六位數字臨時密碼。

2. Enter <OnePass password>,<temporary passcode> as your password in step 3.

在以上步驟 3，輸⼊ <OnePass 密碼>,<臨時密碼> 作為密碼。
