Annual Art Scholarship

2023
Recipient to be chosen from
St. Marks High School, Manotick
Scholarship ~ $500

Criteria:

The scholarship will be awarded to ONE graduating student in their


final year of high school who is pursuing post secondary studies in
a fine art discipline. The successful student will have taken fine art
classes in all 4 years of high school and will have maintained a
grade of at least 3+ in the fine arts classes.

Art Classes can be from another institution [ie Ottawa School of


Art] but student must be enrolled full-time at St. Marks High
School in Manotick.

Scholarship bid to be sponsored by two full-time St. Marks 


teachers.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated a contribution
to the fine arts community in the school and/or in the community
at large. This can be in the form of volunteer hours, decorating
the school, making sets for the drama club, or any other activity
that somehow contributes to the fine art community.

Applicants must submit, to the School Scholarship Committee, 3


samples of art for review. We also request that the applicant
submit a reasonably comprehensive composition( 500 to 1000
words) about why they seek the scholarship, how it will help them
achieve the education they desire and lastly, why art is important
to them and how it betters their life and those around them. 

MAA requests at least one Fine Arts teacher is on the Selection


Committee.

There is an expectation by the MAA that if there is a more


pressing financial assistance need in one applicant over another,
that it will be considered.

Member of the MAA Executive or Designate to attend and present


the Scholarship at Graduation.

Scholarship Funding, Amount and Recipient  [designated


school, association or community group] subject to annual
approval by Manotick Art Association  Executive.

Oil, Acrylic, Watercolour, Pencil, Charcoal, Graphic or Digital Art,
Animation, Sculpture, Photography
