eonni: so we decided to make Korean traditional foods, Korea is a

peninsular region in East Asia, it has been divided between two


countries:
● North Korea (the Democratic People's Republic of Korea)
● South Korea (the Republic of Korea).

We chose Korea because we love their culture, music and we


are really fond of Korean dramas and of course the food.

1. Kimchi is a traditional Korean side dish of salted and fermented


vegetables, such as napa cabbage and Korean radish. It has different
ways of making and cooking. It Is used or eaten in almost every
Korean meal, soup, or stew, like bokken-bap, kimchi jjigae, and
kimchijeon.

2. Gochujang is a red chili paste, which is used in almost every Korean


dish like Teokbokki, Kimchi, and Bibimbap. It has different levels of
spiciness. Gochujang may make dishes spicier, but also can make
dishes sweeter and smokier.

Eomma:

3. Bibimbap is a bowl of rice with different vegetables of choice on top


of it, the most common and traditional are carrots, zucchini, spinach,
bean sprouts, green onions, and meat. Most of the time it is seasoned
with Gochujang, and before eating it is mixed thoroughly. Bap = rice

4. Bulgogi means Bul fire and gogi meat, it is a very thin piece of beef
that is marinated with soy sauce, onions, and a lot of spices. We can
eat with bap/ rice or with a lot of side dishes also with perilla leaf.

5. Sannakji is literally an alive octopus, the octopus is not cooked and


not cutted, it is eaten raw and we’ve got to chew on it a lot, or else
we’ll choke. It is sprinkled with sesame oil and sesame seeds. Some
eat it with tartare and they mix it with octopus and pears.

Haru:
6. Bossam is Korean pork shoulder or belly cooked on the grill and
sliced into tiny pieces, is most common to eat in a wrap with salad
and ssamjang ( sauce used especially for Korean grills) or Kimchi. A
Korean tradition named Anju is based on consuming Alcohol like soju,
an alcoholic beverage made from rice, soju can have different flavors
and degrees.

7. Perilla leaf Ssam means wrap. It's a vegetable often used as a spice,
toppings, or even eaten just like it. In some dishes such as Bulgogi,
Bossam, and Samgyeopsal (kbbq) they use this leaf as a wrap.

8. Tteokbokki is a famous street food in Korea, It's made with


Gochujang and other spices. The main ingredient of this dish is Rice
cake. People often eat it with sundae ( blood sausage), mandu (
dumpling), and kimbap mini sushi rolls. We’ve got other types of
tteokbokki like rabokki (ramen and tteokbokki) or So-tteok So-tteok
(rice cake skewers with hotdogs), So = sausage, tteok = rice cake (
garaetteok)

Mango:

9. The samgyetang is particularly suitable for those suffering from


excessive sweating and stomach problems. Ginseng accelerates
metabolism and helps recover from fatigue, garlic acts as a tonic,
while jujubes protect the stomach and prevent anemia.

10. Patbingsu is a dessert made of shaved ice with different toppings


on top of it, the most common is the red bean paste or condensed
milk usually eaten in summer.

11. Dalgona is a sweet candy made with brown or white sugar and
baking soda. This candy is made with different types of shapes, for
example, the shape of an umbrella, a circle, a triangle, or even a star.
And the kids have this game of getting these shapes out of the candy,
if it breaks they lose. This candy is really popular after the Netflix
series ‘’Squid game’’. It can also be served in coffee or on pastries.

12. Jokbal is Pig trotters/feet. Braised in soy sauce, ginger, garlic, and
rice wine. This dish is often eaten and they drink it with soju. Eaten
also with a variety of side dishes. Eaten especially in North Korea
